Asher's POV
I groaned as my alarm went off and smacked the top of the clock until the ringing stopped. I rolled out of bed and hopped in the bathroom, taking a quick shower before wrapping a fluffy white towel around my waist and heading back to my room.
I threw open the closet and pulled out a black shirt and black jeans. I walked over to my dresser and tossed a pair of socks next to my outfit for today. I slid my boxers on, followed by my pants and shirt. I walked back into the bathroom, combed my hair with my fingers and brushed my teeth before walking back into my room. I pulled my shoes on, grabbed my backpack, and stuffed my phone in my back pocket before grabbing my keys and heading out the front door.

As I pulled into a parking space, I checked the papers one last time. If he's going to be anywhere on a Thursday, it's here. I shoved my instructions in the glove box of my car before grabbing my backpack and slinging it over one shoulder, heading into the building.
I ignored the stares of my new peers as I walked in the front office. A middle-aged lady with greying hair pulled into a bun sat at the front, slowly typing on the computer. I stood there for a few moments, hoping she would sense my presence and look up. I cleared my throat and she finally looked up, pushing her glasses up on her nose as she did so.
"Oh, hello. How may I help you?"
Who hired this woman? Isn't she supposed to already have everything sorted out and ready? I fought to keep the edge out of my voice as I said, "I'm new and I need my schedule."
The lady slowly blinked at me before she smiled and laughed. "Oh, that's right. I will print it out for you in just a second. What's your name, dearie?"
"Asher Monrico," I told her. This wasn't exactly true. Demons don't have last names, so we are told to use one we like.
"Okay, wait just one moment." Suddenly, a loud sound echoed throughout the building, making me jump. The old woman laughed. "That's the bell. Whenever that rings, you must get to your next class so you won't be late," she explained.
"Okay, here is your schedule. Your first class is with Mr. Palmer. He is in room 207."
I took the piece of paper and waved goodbye to the lady. I turned around to leave and ran into someone. I stumbled back as the kid fell on the floor. I stared at the kid that was rubbing her head from where it hit the floor. It's the girl from the other day. What was her name again?
"Sorry, that was my fault," I said as I held my hand out. She blinked at me in recognition before grinning and taking my hand.
"No, I should have been watching where I was going, it's all good," the girl assured me.
"Brie, there you are. I was wondering when you would show up." The old lady said from behind her computer.
The girl, Brie, laughed. "Yeah, I was running a little late today. Sorry."
The old lady waved her hand dismissively. "It's fine, sweetheart. Anyway, the guy you just ran into is him."
"Oh, okay." The girl turned to me. "Hi, I'm Brie Fox. We met already before. I'll show you around. Follow me," she said as she turned around. I closed the door to the office and followed her before she stopped. "I have no idea where you need to be. Let me see your schedule," Brie said as she reached for the paper.
She skimmed the paper before handing it back to me. "Okay, I don't have any of the same classes as you, but I can direct you to your first class."
As we walked towards the room, Brie began asking me questions. "Sorry, I forgot to ask, but what is your name? How long have you been living here?"
"Asher Monrico and a little less than a week. I got here on Saturday."
"Why did you move here?"
"Um, I..."
"Oh! Sorry, you don't have to tell me!" Brie said, blue eyes widening in panic.
"No, it's fine."
"Well, this is room 207. If you need help getting to your other classes, ask my friend Natalie. She has all the same classes as you. Bye, Asher!" With that, she turned around and began to walk to her class.
"Wait!"
She stopped and faced me. "Yeah?"
"Do you know where I can find someone? His name is Winston Starr."
Brie suddenly looked very uncomfortable. "I know he's in your last class, but I don't know him. No one does. Tony, David, and Mike don't let us get to. Bye and good luck!" She finished as she ran away.
Great. Just great.
I turned toward the door and blew out a breath. I pushed the door open and walked inside.
