~*A 2 day time skip brought to you by Levi's rare smile*~

After settling at the new base I managed to keep to myself. I helped Hange when needed but most of the time I stayed outside to avoid the other and their judging stares. But the only time I couldn't get away from them was when we ate. I saw something fly towards me out of the corner of my eye, and caught it during it's flight towards my head. Looking up from my plate I met Oulo's gaze and he asked "Are you deaf or something? We've been trying to get your attention." Slowly I nodded that I was and he suddenly sneered at me.

"Tch what use to us is a girl whose both mute and deaf. Your practically useless" he said as he leaned back in his chair. It was the word useless that made me bolt towards him. He stood up just as I punched him in the face, then I fell to the floor and swept his feet out from underneath him. When he stood back up blood trickled down his chin as he gave me an ice cold sneer. Then he swung and I caught his fist pulling his arm down to make him lose balance. I placed both hands on the back of his head and slammed my knee into his face.

When I dodged out of his grasp he stood as blood gushed out of his nose. I carefully made a circle with my foot, then completed my move with a straight line as I got into position. We began to circle around my mark and he was the first to attack. He delivered multiple blows to my face before I brought up my arms to block and protect my head. Then he used my position to his advantage and slammed his knee into my gut. Harsh pain of a wound ripping it's stitches sent me to my knees. I held a hand against the reopened wound in my side, feeling blood seeping into my uniform.

He stood over me with a smile of victory and I knew that I couldn't let him win. So I quickly sprung up head-butting him in the chin, making him bite his own tongue. To which he stumbled holding his mouth and I delivered a roundhouse kick to his cheek, which sent him face first into the floor. While he was down I sent a single kick to his gut sending him sliding a few feet across the floor. The kick sent a new wave of blood to soak my shirt as the others looked at the blood in horror. I stood there panting as I watched him slowly rise for the floor, his expression filled with pain.

Petra spoke to him and he looked at me. His eyes widened as he caught sight of the seeping wound. Hange rushed towards me only to stop when I sent her a sharp icy glare. Walking back towards my seat I grabbed the small loaf of bread and tossed it at Oulo hitting him in the face with it and for the first time spoke "You'll have to be smarter and quicker if you want to keep me down. And don't waste your food on something so trivial as catching my attention." Then I left standing proud as I walked towards my room. When I got there I unbuttoned my shirt so that I could see the damage done.

Blood was the first thing I saw, and then it was the torn skin and muscle, the original stitching stuck into and around the large gash. I was still examining it that I never noticed someone entering. It was when I felt a soft hand on my shoulder that I closed my shirt to hide the damage. I looked up and met Petra's concerned gaze. "Is it bad?" she asked. I shook my head and she gave me a look, but she handed me a bowl of clean water, some cloths and a needle and thread. It was when she didn't leave that I finally glared at her. "I won't leave until I'm sure you'll be ok" she said stubbornly.

Finally I shrugged and took off my shirt and started to treat the wound. It took awhile to clean it, as well as to remove the old stitching and the whole time I could see her taking in my scars as well as the etchings forever embedded in my skin. I started to stitch the skin back together when she caught my attention and said "That seems to have come from a blade. The original wound that is, looked like a clean cut before the stitches were pulled." "Training accident" I said with a shrug and continued. Once again she caught my attention and said "Maybe you should let Squad Leader Zoe take a look at that." "I'll be fine, I know what I'm doing" I said before returning my attention to the wound.

Once again I was stopped as she placed a hand on my shoulder and said "I can see that. But what do those markings mean? The last time I saw markings like those they were on a few bodies we discovered during the fall of Wall Maria, we were told that they were slave etchings, given to those that were considered criminals to serve out their time. But if that's true how you would end up at Shadis's?" I sighed and said "Petra I know you're curious and mean well, but if you haven't noticed I'm bleeding and I would like to get this stitched up before Captain Levi sees it and starts bitching about making a mess all over the floor. Now please just sit down and shut up or I'll forget about the stitches and kick you out."

Immediately she closed her mouth and sat down on my bed, once I was sure she was going to remain silent I continued to stitch the wound. Every now and then I would have to stop and clean the wound of fresh blood. When I was done it was dark, and I took the bowl back to the kitchen almost running into Oulo. Who suddenly demanded to see the damage that he caused. I lifted up the edge of my bloody shirt and he examined the even stitches surrounded by slight red puffy skin. Meeting my eyes he asked "Did Petra do this?" I shook my head and he asked "You did this yourself?" I nodded and said "I've had a lot of practice over the years, so doing it myself isn't much of a problem anymore. It's the ones I can't reach that I allow other people to do for me."

Then left him standing speechless in the hallway as I entered the kitchen, only to come face to face with Captain Levi. "Brat you're smell like blood, and you look like hell. After you're done here go see Shitty Glasses and have her take a look at the stitching to make sure it's done well. Tch don't want you dying on us by infection before you're cleared or convicted" he said coldly. I pressed the back of my hand against my forehead and sarcastically said "Aww you really do care what happens to me, how touching Captain Levi Ackerman showing concern for a lowly Cadet such as myself." After my fantastic display I looked him in the eye and said "A trip to Hange's room isn't needed, I know how to take care of myself been doing it all my life. Plus I have this feeling that she'd be worse than you about my health and I don't want nor do I require a baby sitter."

When his cold gaze turned icy I didn't look away, instead I planted my feet and stood my ground. I wasn't going to let him boss me around like a naughty child and it was time he understood that. His look became even icier as he continued to glare at me before he walked passed me and out the kitchen his final word on the matter was "Tch." I released the breath I had been holding and washed out the rags and the bowl before heading back to my room. There in the middle of my bed rested a small pile of bandages, a small jar of salve, and a small note. Picking up the small square of paper I read

*Since you insist on doing it yourself at least have the proper equipment to do it right

Levi*

Putting it down on the table I had beside my bed I shook my head with a small smile on my face, then began to remove my clothes and went to bed.
