After that day a truce was made between Levi and L/N. Both trained Eren and both trained with one another. Soon Erwin arrived with more Scout members and L/N's original Cadets were there except Annie. They too received Levi's training. But everyone soon noticed the cold indifferent attitude L/N displayed towards Erwin and none could understand why.

All of us surrounded Erwin as he began to explain a new strategy. He gave us all a part to play except me. That's when I butted in and asked "Sir what would you like me to do?" His icy eyes met mine as he said "I want you to stay here. It's true that you have an amazing amount of kills under your name, but that was because you lost your hearing. I cannot afford to place my plan on your shoulders no matter how skilled you are. You are to stay behind here at the base. Is that understood L/N?"

I narrowed my eyes and everyone took a step back except Levi and asked "Then why did you by my contract? Hmmmm? Just because of one lost sense doesn't mean I don't know how to evaluate any given situation. My hearing doesn't affect my skills as a soldier, it doesn't affect the way I think. You have no right to station me here when I'd be of more use to you out there." "I have the authority as your handler to station you anywhere I want" he said calmly. My hands turned into white knuckled fists as I said "Stationing me here will not protect me from what's already happened. This will not change the past, all you're doing is keeping me from what I've worked so hard to accomplish. You cannot keep me here Smith, not while I'm still of sound mind. Trying to keep me safe will only make me hate you more."

"Why do you dislike the Corps so much Brat? Thought you'd be grateful to be out of Nile Dok's hands" Levi stated coldly. Erwin switched his gaze from me to Levi and said "Levi." I narrowed my eyes and said "You want to know why I have a problem with the Survey Corps? My problem isn't with the Corps itself, it's with HIM." "And why would you have a problem with someone you've just met?" he demanded sharply, his voice as cold as his eyes.

"My name isn't L/N its F/N. L/N was something I picked up to protect myself. It was because of him that I ended up being sold as a slave more than once. He's the reason behind every cruel act aimed at my person, every insult, every goddamned beating. The reason I was attacked by the MP's and lost my hearing was because of him. He's the reason I'm here when I hate everything that involves him. I'd rather die at Nile Dok's hands or inside a fucking Titan's belly than to be around him everyday for the next 5 years" I said coldly as I looked at both Levi and Erwin.

"And how could he be the cause of that?" Levi demanded. Suddenly I grabbed the thin object that hung around my neck, ripped it off and tossed it onto the table. Amongst the pile of think gold chain rested an emerald pendent from the Commander's missing bolo tie. Erwin met my cold accusing gaze and said "Because she's my daughter Levi." It was what I knew all along but the pain I felt when he confirmed it, hurt more than I thought it would but I pushed passed the pain and turned to leave.

Before I opened the door I looked over my shoulder and said "How can you be a father when you weren't even around to protect me when I needed it most?" Then I walked out and headed towards the woods to regain my composer.

Levi looked down at the necklace than at Erwin who sat with his head in his hands. "Explain Commander" Levi demanded coldly. Erwin sighed and said "I had just been promoted Commander, when my wife Honey had gotten pregnant. When she finally gave birth to our child we couldn't keep her, couldn't take the risk that we'd die and leave her all alone. So we put her up for adoption. Honey died the same day we found out our child had been sold instead. I've been looking for her all these years. Only for her to go from owner to owner as soon as I discovered where she was."

"When I found out that Shadis had her I thought he was her new owner, but he wasn't. I wanted to recruit her, but she turned me down before I could even ask. It was then that I formed a plan that ensured that she had to leave with us." Erwin finished. Levi's eyes narrowed as he demanded "You were the one who framed her didn't you? How did you do it?" Erwin sighed and said "One evening at Shadis's compound L/N was attacked by a male Cadet who was intent on having his way with her. She did some heavy external and internal damage before she dropped him at Shadis's feet. That night both Shadis and I came to the conclusion that she'd never be completely safe unless she was with me."

"So the night you sent Shitty Glasses to get me, it was the male Cadet I fought who dropped the canister while Shadis distracted her and you planted the blueprints. And I'm guessing that when you realized that I had injured the Cadet, you had to stage an accident for L/N as well to make the whole thing fit together. Except you didn't count on the fact that the MP's would find her, and you would have to buy her contract instead" Levi finished stiffly. Erwin nodded and said "I only wanted to protect her by stationing her here, until I could find a way to free her completely."

"The only good thing about her situation is that it made her quite strong, and very opinionated about what's wrong and what's right" Levi said after a moment.
