"So you're suggesting that the canister was placed there for Captain Levi and Squad Leader Zoe to find. What about the fact that in Captain Levi's report he said he wounded the criminal and that you possess a matching wound, and in Squad Leader Zoe's she stated that the criminal did a special move that she had witnessed you make once before. Are you saying that they're reports are false?" he asked. I shook my head and said "No Sir. It is true that I possess a similar wound on my side Captain Levi made the connection quite clear; however I received my wound from an accident during training with the Cadet's, and the special move that Squad Leader Zoe isn't all that difficult to copy. All it is is a circle in the dirt completed with a straight line. If you'd like you can ask the same Cadet's I mentioned before." The judge sighed and said "You do make a compelling argument Miss L/N, but I must ask if you know anyone who would try to frame you and why?"

My gaze flickered toward Nile Dok, then back to the judge as I shook my head and said "Not at the moment Sir." The judge sighed and said "The charges against you for being the Ghost is dropped." "Thank you Sir" I said softly. "Don't thank me just yet Miss L/N, we still have something else to discuss within the court. I have here in my hand several written reports that states that you possess evidence that you are a slave. Is this true?" The crowd seemed to go completely silent waiting for my answer but I did nothing. The judge looked at the MP's beside me and said "Show me."

They grabbed my chain pushing me down towards a bench and I started to fight back. I was able to take down a few before a right hook took me off guard. I was about to attack again when whoever punched me pushed me face down into the bench. From my position I was able to make out cold eyes and black hair. Immediately I knew that it was Levi who held me down and I began to struggle under he grasp. He pushed my face deeper against the wood and said "Brat stop fighting before you rip the stitches." I ignored his words and continued to struggle as an MP unzipped the back of the corset like shirt I wore.

I raised my bound hands to pry his harsh grip off the back of my head. The first thing everyone noticed was the multiple dark bruises all over my back and ribs. A collective gasp echoed in the room as the judge demanded "What the hell happened." Nile shrugged and said "As you can see she's a fighter, so we took her down. She tried to escape multiple times, and a few of my men were hurt in the process." "Bruises like that don't come from a fair fight Nile" the judge said harshly. "Even if they don't, you can see that she's only property" Nile spoke as he pointed to the circular brand on the back of my neck.

My struggle continued stronger than ever only for me to freeze the moment I felt a hand touch the small of my back and push down making my whole body press against the bench. The way I was positioned I knew everyone could see the 5 tiny brands that were branded down my spine. I tried to move away but was stopped by a harsh jerk of my hair. Suddenly my left arm was grabbed and twisted as a copy of the brands on my back were shown. The corset was zipped back up and I was forced back into a standing position. The judge was silent for a moment before saying "By your records I'm guessing that your around 25, 26 years old is that correct?" I stiffly nodded.

"You have 5 original marks, because your records don't show a freedom mark I assume that your last master was from Wall Maria" he said carefully. I looked away and once again nodded. Suddenly the doors burst open revealing a tall dark haired man with fiery red eyes. His eyes landed on me and I stood tall under his gaze. Then he shouted "This is my slave! By law she has no rights, so by law she shouldn't even have a trial!" "According to the documentation on both her back and arm, she's been under you contract for 6 years. Which by law means that her contract with you is null and void. Which means by law this is now a trial to replace her owner" said the judge.

The man was dragged out of the room shouting. Then the judge looked around the room and asked "Now who would like to buy her contract?" Both Nile and Erwin spoke "We'll vouch for her Sir." The judge looked at me and said "Because this is your fate I'd like to hear your opinion before making my decision." I met the judge's dark eyes and said "I'd rather die at Nile Dok's hands then work for Erwin Smith and any under his command Sir." It was silent in the room when the judge finally spoke "That is your decision?" "It is Sir" I said. The judge sighed and asked "Commander Erwin Smith mentioned in his report that you are who they refer to as Maria's Hero is that correct?" I nodded and said "Yes I've been called that a time or two in the past Sir."

The judge rubbed his forehead and said "By law you're property which technically has no rights, no matter how much respect a certain title of yours has. So as much as I'd like to grant your request I sadly cannot. Therefore because of the astounding Titan record, skill and the extensive expertise you possess I overrule your decision in favor of the Survey Corps Commander Erwin Smith. If I were you young lady I'd get used to taking orders." I was led outside in front of the large group a new brand being added to my records. Once that was completed my chain and keys were given to Erwin who chained me to a post outside the courthouse.

I shot him an icy glare as he sadly said "We have other things to do here, I can't take the chance of unchaining you only to have you flee. Our Corps desperately need your training." Then he went back inside, I waited until he was out of sight before reaching for a small wire embedded in the corset I wore. After bending it I gently inserted it into the lock of my manacles. I maneuvered the small wire for a long while until the lock finally popped open. I tilted my head to the side as I started to pick the lock on the collar around my neck. This took a bit longer but the moment it popped open my vision went black and I fell.
