Chapter 26

~*3 weeks later*~

I was out in the field training, very carefully trying not to open my wounds or rip the stitches. Training was the only thing Hange and the others let me do, while I worried about Levi and my son. Suddenly I heard a horse and then a young voice shout "Mommy! Mommy!!" I froze and turned my head. There sat Levi with my son sitting in front of him. Levi got down and then helped Erwin who hit the ground rushing towards me. I bolted up and the rocks I had been balancing fell to the ground as I rushed towards them. I fell to my knees sliding in the dirt as he ran into my arms.

I squeezed him tight as his soft black hair brushing up against my cheek, while the uniform he wore felt rough under my fingers. His arms tightening around my neck as he hugged me like he never intended on ever letting go again. Levi's low voice reached me as he said "Sorry it took so long, I went to see the judge before coming here with the Brat." After Levi said that Erwin pulled away his blue eyes crinkling with delight as lifted up an emerald that resembled the one I had hated all my life. "Did you see what Daddy gave me? He told me that you were a Hero. Is that true? That you're a Hero?" he asked with a bright smile as he played with the tie around his neck.

I looked up with a glare and demanded "Just what exactly have you been telling my son Captain?" "Mommy why are you mad at Daddy. I thought you'd be happy that he came and took me to you. Did Daddy do this, is that why you're mad at him?" Erwin said with a small frown on his face as he touched a semi healed bruise on my cheek. I looked around and caught sight of Mikasa and stood taking Erwin's hand. I walked towards her and she saluted, I knelt back down in front of Erwin and said "No he wasn't the one who hurt me. How about you let Mikasa show you around the base ok?" Erwin scowled at me and said "But I just got here, can't I spend some time with you instead?" I gave him a stern look and said "Me and the Captain need to have a talk, then afterwards we can spend as much time as you want together ok Erwin?"

Erwin's blue gaze met mine and he crossed his arms and said "Fine." I stood and met Mikasa's gaze and said "Ackerman will you show Erwin around the base while I discuss a few things with Captain Levi?" She nodded and after taking Erwin's hand I turned and stomped up to Levi, grabbed his jacket collar and dragged him into the woods and out of Erwin's sight. "Now explain to me exactly what the hell's going on Captain" I demanded crossing my arms. His eyes went cold as he forced me up against a tree and said "I'll say this once I won't allow my future wife question any decision that I make. With you being a free woman I assume you'll want to continue with your school when you resign from the Corps."

I glared at him and said "What the hell are you talking about Captain? I'm not your wife, nor your intended, which I'm actually quite ecstatic about right now, so cut the crap and start explaining." "We'll have a long extensive engagement if that's alright with you" he continued fully ignoring my rant. "Damn it Levi will you just shut up and tell me what's going on? You're not making any sense right now!" I shouted at him. He leveled a cold glare at me and said "I thought my intentions were quite obvious before I left. I thought that I was quite clear stating the fact that I bought your contract and that I want you to resign from the Corps to continue your student's training here at the base........with me."

"You want me to resign?! I'm not your anything so why the hell would I listen you you?!" I shouted coldly pushing him away and turning to stomp away before I clocked him. "Because you owe me Brat" was his icy reply. I faced him once again and said "The hell I do!" He took a menacing step closer and said "I bought your freedom and told the judge that the Brat was mine. I even got permission for you to bring your other children here and continue their schooling. I would say that you owe me everything."

I glared at him and said "That's not my problem that was all your idea. If you had come and gotten me I could've." "Done what? Nile would've still gotten the Brat because the Judge would've ruled in his favor if I hadn't stepped in. You and the Brat owe me your lives" he interrupted coldly. "What the hell do you want me to do? I don't even know you Captain; I don't know what you want from me. So will you stop talking so cryptically and just tell me what the hell you want" I demanded. "I want you to be happy" was all he said. "Why would my happiness matter to you Captain?" I asked stiffly.

He grabbed my hand pulling me towards him. His eyes warmed and to my surprise he smirked and said "Because I think I'm in love with you." I blinked and then suddenly wrapped my arms around him surprising him with a kiss as we fell to the ground. The kiss was soft and sweet, as tears rolled down my face. Tears continued to roll down my face as I pulled away and whispered "I think I love you too Levi." Then I looked down in horror at the tears and dirt on his face. I sprung up immediately apologizing but stopped at an unfamiliar sound coming from him. He was laughing, actually laughing at me and I shot him a glare at him and demanded "What is so goddamned funny?"

When he continued to laugh I ignored the urge to kick him in the ribs and gave a frustrated groan as I turned to walk away. A hand grabbing mine stopped me and I was turned around as soft lips pressed against my own startling me. When he pulled away he said "Since you dirtied up my uniform you get to clean it." I eyed him for a second and said "Does that mean I get to remove it and help you into a new one?" He blinked and gave a soft chuckled as he gave me another kiss. Hand in hand we left the clearing neither of us noticing the small smile on either of our faces.
