Into the Arms of a Stranger

At the Conference Room

“Gentlemen, I am proud to announce that for the past two months we were able to hit our highest profit expectation for the first quarter. It was a month earlier than our predicted outcome. I also would like to make known that today our company is featured in The Australian Business Journal as one of the biggest comebacks in the business world. Of course I would like to thank everyone for all your contributions, especially to Mr. Magalona, though he is not around again, who has been industrious enough to help us bag our current partners and clients. And allow me to grab this opportunity to hand you my deepest appreciation and let’s keep the ball rollin’!” Julie gladly stated and all of the Shareholders applauded.

“… and in lieu with that, tonight we will have a banquet with all of the employees to celebrate, reinforce and reunite all of the PSJ for a better tomorrow.” Julie added and the excitement clouded the room.

Julie’s POV

It feels so great! It reminds me of the days with Ma’am Cherry! I wish you were here Mom. I wish you were here to see how we were able to stand up again. (Wipes her tears) By the way, where is Moe this time? He hasn’t attended most our meetings. Oh yeah! I should inform him of our celebration tonight. I wonder what should I wear this time.

(Phone Ringing)

“He-hello.” Elmo answered in a very lame-stuttering voice.

“Moe! It’s me Julie! I just called to inform you about PSJ’s celebratory dinner tonight… Your voice seems to be weak, are you okay?”

“Yeah I am okay, what time is the dinner?”

“It’ll start at 8 o’clock in the evening.”

“I see…”

“You’re coming right?”

“Nah!”

“Pardon?’

“Yah!”

“All right, see you then! Bye!”

Elmo immediately cut off their phone conversation.

“Whew what was that for? What’s with him? He didn’t even bother to ask what the dinner is all about. He doesn’t sound like he is good though. Is he really this stubborn? Hmph! Even if he is a great help to us and really that handsome, I won’t bother myself spending my day concerning about him. Who does he think he is?” Julie thought.

The night has come and all members of the PSJ gathered in their multipurpose hall to dine. Everyone including some representatives from their business partners and some clients attended the event. All were present except for Elmo. At first none has taken notice of his absence but when the shareholders were introduced to the guests, people become aware of his nonattendance, especially Julie.

“Atty. San Jose, isn’t it that Mr. Magalona also a shareholder of this company? Why is he seldom seen during business meetings and activities?” One of the shareholders asked.

“Sorry, even I couldn’t answer that.” Julie apologized.

Then something struck Julie’s thoughts.

Hang on; he is indeed a shareholder of this company but when did he able to obtain my shares when in fact we never settled on such agreement? It’s been more than 2 months now since he became part of this company and I wasn’t able to follow that info with him… how was he able to get some of my shares without my notice?
