Stand Beside Him

After a week, Elmo’s case was already finalized and scheduled for pre-trial. A lot of members from the media stormed the court to get a scoop of Elmo’s situation. People were divided in opinion as to his case. But what bothers those close to him was that until now he had no lawyer to defend him.

“Where is Julie?” Mavy asked.

“I don’t know, she isn’t answering her mobile.” Exodus answered “Maybe she’ll catch up.”

At the Pre-trial, After the Narration of the Facts…

“I see. I do hereby order the Attorney’s office to provide the respondent a counsel to defend him against the charges.” The Judge ordered.

Then the stenographer handed the Judge another paper.

“So it seems that you already have a counsel Mr. Magalona. A communication has just arrived to inform this court that someone will represent you in your case.”

“Huh?” Elmo wondered.

After a few Minutes, Julie entered the courtroom and sat beside him.

“I am sorry your honor for my tardiness, I was caught by the traffic.”

“This ought not to happen again Atty. San Jose. This trial will have a 2 minutes break to allow the prosecution and defense prepare their initial statements.” The Judge pounded.

“Julie what are you doing here?” Elmo was surprised.

“Taking back the person I love from the world who wants to separate us.” Julie smiled.

Elmo smiled back “But I can’t afford your professional fee.” Elmo kid’ around.

“A kiss is enough.” Julie joked back.

“On a serious note, but Julie I thought you feared court litigations? Don’t you have some ‘mild phobia’ when arguing to someone?” Elmo asked.

“Yeah, but I am willing to face such fear just for you Moe.”

“Thanks Hon.”

After the pre-trial, it has been decided that the following trial will be on the next day. Julie was successful in requesting bail so that Elmo can be temporarily released. Exodus, Mavy and Louise were happy to see him again.

“I really didn’t expect Julie to pull that act a while ago.” Exodus commented.

“Me too.” Elmo said in awe.

“Well, if you definitely love, you’ll do everything for that person right?” Mavy playfully tapped Exodus.

“Yeah.” Exodus smirked.

“This is just the start Julie; there will be a lot of things that we might encounter in this trial…”

“Don’t worry Moe, this time it will be my turn to return the favor. Just trust me.”

“I do Julie, I do.”
