Responsibilities and Consequences

At St. Vincent’s Hospital

“Doctor! How is he?” Julie quickly asked.

“He is doing fine now Atty. San Jose. A lot of blood lost, though good thing he was brought here immediately.”

“Thank you Doctor.” Julie sighed in relief.

“Anytime now he’ll regain consciousness. You can visit him later this evening.” The Doctor informed.

“How about Exodus Doctor?” Mavy asked.

“He is doing fine Ms. Shevank. He was just stressed out. He shouldn’t have done strenuous activities that much since he just recovered from coma. But he’s in good shape now.”

“I see. Thank you so much doctor.”

“Argh…’ Elmo groggily uttered.

“Welcome back to earth Moe!” Exodus greeted.

“Exodus? Are you also shot?” Elmo surprisingly asked upon seeing Exodus on the other Bed.

“Me? Shot? Ha! I felt weak after I saved your ass! I just woke up from my coma remember?”

“Sheesh! What a wimp.”

“Hey! You should thank me! If I haven’t pinned down Jean with my UMP95, you could be dead!”

“It was your men who got him. You didn’t even fire your gun.”

“But I was still there!” Exodus defended.

After a while Mavy, Julie and Louise entered the room with a basket of fruits.

Julie kissed Elmo and embraced him.

“Thanks Hon.” Julie whispered.

“It’s nothing.” Elmo smiled.

“But still, you really had me worried there.” Julie said.

“Ah… well… (Weak laugh)”

Julie giggled.

“Louise, Exodus, Mavy… thank you for everything.” Elmo said.

“OW IT’S NOTHING!” Exodus proudly said “Besides I did it for Julie not for you.” Exodus wisecracked.

“EXODUS!” Mavy and Julie scolded in unison.

“I was just joking.” Exodus excused.

“That is the reason why sometimes I prefer Exodus in coma.” Elmo joked back.

Everyone laughed.

“Why didn’t you scold him?” Exodus told Mavy and Julie.

It was almost three days after the incident when Exodus and Elmo were able to recover from their injuries. Julie and Mavy took care of the two personally while Louise handled all the reports regarding Jean’s crimes and death to the NSW Police Force. After a while the two lads were allowed to leave the hospital.

Elmo was still holding Julie on her shoulders as they walk along the hallway.

“Am I still welcome to our house?” Elmo whispered.

“For me, you really never left the house.” Julie smiled.

“Thanks, again I am sorry if I really caused you a lot of trouble.”
