Lies and Doubts

“Atty. San Jose? Ms. Schevank?” The Doctor called their attention.

“Doctor how is he?” Mavy immediately asked.

“We were able to save Mr. Ludovice’s life…”

“Thank God Julie!” Mavy jolted.

“…Ma’am let me finish first, your fiancée was injected a dose of Diamorphine, and if we were not able to respond quickly he could have been dead. However, though we were able to save his life, he is now in coma; worst he may stay in that condition all of his life.” The doctor explained.

Mavy gasp and cried upon hearing the Doctor’s words.

“Doctor, is there anything that you can do to help my brother? We don’t care how much it may cost, just save my brother.” Julie begged with teary eyes.

“Attorney, the drug that was used to your brother was a strong toxic substance. We will do our best to bring your brother recover from comatose. But, you may also pray for his recovery because at this state only a miracle may save him.” The Doctor told Julie. “I am sorry…” he added as the he excused himself from the two ladies.

“Julie, I’m always telling Exodus to take care of himself because I always have this bad feeling. I don’t want to see him suffer like this. Why does this mishap occur?” Mavy questioned.

“Mavy, Exodus is a very strong person. Trust him and just pray for his recovery. I’ll request for additional police officers to guard you and Exodus.”

“Thanks Julie, wait are you saying that you’re leaving?”

“I know I shouldn’t, but there is something I want to clarify. I hope you understand. Don’t worry I’ll frequently check both of you.” Julie assured.

“Okay, I’ll just continue to monitor our transfer documents. Hopefully, tomorrow we could transfer Exodus to a safer place.”

Julie went home and called Jean

“Jean? It’s me Julie.”

“Oh Julie! What can I do for you?”

“Ahmm… I just want to ask if Moe is in your house right now?”

“Sorry, he’s not here, why?”

“Oh nothing I am just worried. It’s already late but until now he hasn’t returned.”

“Maybe he just did something important. Didn’t he tell you anything?”

“Nope he just left a note posted in our fridge that he’ll be late.”

“I see, well you know Moe right? He is a very secretive person.”

“Yeah… anyway thanks Jean. Bye!”

“Anytime sweetie, Bye!”

Julie’s POV

Moe, please come home now… There are lots of things I want to clarify with you. I hope that you’ll answer me transparently, like before. I don’t want to suspect you for my brother’s misfortune tonight. But my instincts are telling me that I should doubt you. I tried to brush off that idea but the things that occurred today just strengthen my qualms against you.

It was already early in the morning when Elmo returned home. There he saw Julie sleeping on the Couch. And he wakes her up.

“Julie, why are you sleeping here? I told you I’d be home late right?” Elmo said.
