Red Tears

My family was once a picture of a simple and happy life… Elmo narrated to himself as he remembers everything about his past… I was just a student in psychology and about to finish my studies. At first everything was going smoothly, but my Mom, always planning ahead, insured our properties to secure the same from any misfortunes. However, we didn’t expect that such transactions would be the cause of her illness; an illness that even I couldn’t accept and admit…

Few Years Back, when Elmo was still a Psychology student.

“Mosey! I have good news for you! Your name was nominated to be our school’s representative for the student exchange program with Durham University!” Louise excitedly screamed.

“Huh? Where did you get that information?”

“Our dean called for a meeting today. I was also invited as the council president; there are three of you whom the committee will choose. Good luck sweetie!”

“Thanks Louise!… by the way it’s our 3rd anniversary a week from now, where do you want to celebrate?” Elmo sweetly asked.

“Ahmm… anywhere romantic.” Louise winked.

“I think I know a place!”

“Really? Where?”

“Seeecret!” Elmo playfully said “I don’t want to spoil the surprise!” he added.

Sunbury Asylum

“Mr. Darwin Magalona, we advise that your wife should remain a bit longer here in our institution for a while. We suspect that her condition will worsen due to the problems that she shared to us during the therapy.”

“Doctor, are you saying that my wife is insane?” Darwin glared.

“No, not yet Mr. Magalona, that is why she has to remain here for a while.”

“Dad sorry to interfere, Doctor, I believe that the reason why you want to admit my mother is because you want to observe her further right?”

“Indeed” the Doctor answered.

“Please allow me to do that task for you. You know me Doctor, you know my capability when it comes to psychoanalysis, and I’ve been your student and intern for 3 years now. Please allow me to observe my Mom first hand.”

“Elmo, I know you are good student, but this is something that a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist must do. I hope you do understand.”

“But Sir, this is my mother that we are talking about.”

“Yeah that is why we want her to be observed by professional practitioners themselves.”

Then Elmo’s dad interfered “With all due respect Sir, it is not because I don’t trust you and your Doctors in this institution but I also have faith with my Son’s capabilities.”

“I understand Mr. Magalona, okay let’s make a deal…” the doctor said “I also trust you Elmo as my intern, so we will be observing Krisel for 2 weeks then after that we will allow you to take her home with you but you will continue to observe her and write a report about it. After that you will submit your observations to us for comparisons and further analysis. Is that fair enough?”
