Pippa's POV
Day after my birthday we were flying out to Chicago to see my parents. I was excited to see them, but terrified that I would have to come out to them. My mom was going to be completely over the moon about this. I already knew that. But my dad never had an opinion over anything like this which made me terrified.
Jasmine was talking with some of the cast we invited over. It was a small party, nothing too big since we were already tired from doing a show earlier that day.
"Happy birthday.... toooooooo YOUUUUUU!!!" Everyone sang. I'll admit, just about all of us were mildly tipsy... So happy birthday songs were always so much more fun when singing it tipsy.
"Make a wish!" Groff screamed. I blew out the candles and everyone cheered. I had wished for my life to settle down soon and for everything to be perfect with Jasmine and I. It had to be perfect. It was already perfect now. How could it not be any more perfect after that?

I woke up in an entangled mess of blankets. Jasmine's alarm was going off and I couldn't reach it. I groaned and felt Jasmine shift under the blankets.
"How the hell did we get so tangled up?" She mumbled. I helped her get out of the blankets and I laughed. Everything was coming back to me now. After everyone left, Jasmine decided to become a stripper.
"I remember." I laughed. She shook her head and turned off her alarm. It was probably coming back to her too.
"Our flight leaves in a few hours. Better get up and dressed." She yawned. We made sure we had everything packed, and everything we needed to fly from state to state. It was really only the essentials of phone chargers, earphones and phones.
When we got to the airport, everything was crowed and terrible. We checked our bags at the ticket counter and made our way through security. Thank god that didn't take a million years.
"So what are your parents like?" Jasmine asked while we walked to our gate.
"Well... They're really nice. Very keen on making sure everyone is well taken care of.." I shrugged. I really didn't know how to explain my parents to anyone. They were average parents.
"That's good." She smiled. I was starting to feel really nervous. My mom was texting me about how excited she was to see me again and to meet Jasmine. Still horrifying if you ask me....
We landed in Chicago without any problems. Jasmine stayed by my side the whole time while we walked through to the baggage claim area. My dad was still at work which meant my mom was picking us up from the airport. Thank goodness I could break the news to her before my dad.
"Phillipa!" Mom shouted when we walked into baggage claim.
"Mom!" I smiled. I walked over to her and hugged her tightly. "Mom... This is Jasmine." I said slowly.
"So wonderful to meet you." My mom said while hugging her as well. "You're in the musical with Pippa?" She asked.
"Yes. I am." Jasmine smiled. My mom smiled and walked with us while we waited for our bags. "When are you going to tell her?" Jasmine whispered.
"I was going to do it five minutes ago but my mouth stopped working..." I whispered back. "I'll do it at dinner tonight." I frowned. Jasmine gave me a little smile and rubbed my arm. I just hoped dinner would be normal tonight.
~~~
When dinner time came around, I was helping my mom by setting the table and getting everything ready. Jasmine and my dad were talking about different things in the living room, and were laughing about other things. It was good that they were getting on each other's good side.
"Alright, dinner is ready!" Mom called. Dad walked into the dining room with Jasmine, laughing about a story he was telling. More than likely about me as a kid.
"Oh, Phillipa, how long are you staying this time?" Dad asked while sitting down at the table.
"Just a week. We have another thing planned next month that we have to do and we have to be back by the end of July for more previews." I explained.
"So busy now." Mom frowned. I nodded and looked back at Jasmine. Busy was going to just barely cover it. "You need to come back home more often."
"I'll try." I smiled. We went through dinner talking about various things, me attempting to butter up my dad by asking him different things that usually bored me but would get him all happy and excited.
"And that's how I lost that tooth." He chuckled.
"Wow." Jasmine said quietly.
"I know. Thrilling tale." He laughed. I smiled and looked down at my empty plate. It was now or never Pip... Gotta do it. If you don't do it now the whole rest of your life is going to be hard...
"So... Um... Mom, dad..." I laughed nervously.
"Yes Phillipa?" Mom smiled.
"I.. I um... Well..." I frowned. "You know I love you both very much..." I started. "And, I need to tell you this now or else I'll never get to."
"Phillipa, what's wrong?" Dad frowned.
"Nothing is wrong... In fact, it's the only other thing that has gone right in my life.." I smiled. "I broke up with Tyler last year... And I met someone new." I continued.
"That's great honey!" My mom grinned.
"And she's sitting right here... I've been with Jasmine for a while now and I'm really happy with her. She completes me..." I said softly while grabbing her hand. "And I really, really hope you can accept it..." I said while looking back at my parents. Mom looked like she was happy, but still in shock... Dad had a blank face... The one problem I had with him...
"Well.. I'm happy for you." He finally said. "As long as you're happy, I'm fine with it. Jasmine seems like a wonderful girl." He smiled. My mom nodded, but kept quiet... hopefully that meant good things... It never did but at least dad was okay with it.
