Jasmine's POV
Pippa was upset to see her show close so soon, but she had fun while it lasted. I applauded louder than anyone else, even stood for her when she took her final bow.
I met with her backstage and gave her the biggest hug I could muster up. She still had tears in her eyes and her wig cap on, but she accepted my hug anyway.
"You were great out there." I smiled.
"Thank you." She said while wiping her eyes. "I just want to go home." She groaned. "But I know that won't happen." She sighed. "Are the bags packed?" She asked while wiping her makeup off.
"Yes. They're in the car. My parents are waiting for us to get back so we can head out." I explained. "Do you have everything?" I asked her.
"I think so..." She said while looking through her bag. I walked over towards her and placed my left hand on her shoulder. "I'm so tired... I hope you don't care that I'm going to fall asleep on the plane." She frowned. I dug through her bag, seeing her passport and other forms of identification for the Airport.
"I don't care. I'm gonna fall asleep too. When we get back we have that meeting with the adoption agency too." I reminded. Her eyes widened and she threw the makeup wipe in the garbage. "Did you forget...?" I asked.
"Yes." She said while burying her head in her hands. "I'm a terrible wife." She grumbled.
"You're not terrible." I laughed while rubbing her shoulder. She continued to hide her face, but I made sure she felt comforted. She was so stressed, as was I but I hadn't been doing as much as her. I had dealt with most of the adoption papers while she was away, but she would stay up and read over them so we would always be on the same page. I would fly out of town to go film a show or finish up a movie or something I was asked to be in and it would kill her. She was so devastated when she found out I had to leave for two weeks just to film an episode of a show.
"I've been dealing with so much crap I can't even figure out what's real and what isn't anymore." She said while tying her hair up into a messy bun. "By the way, I read more into those papers you brought home. I had to call my brother just to make sure I wasn't reading things wrong." She said while changing out of her costume.
"What?" I asked.
"The part about how long it'll be until we actually can call the child ours. We may sign those papers saying that we have officially adopted that kid, but with all the home visits and if anything goes wrong, the kid can be taken away from us and go right back into the orphanage or foster home they were in." She frowned. I nodded, knowing what she was talking about. It was hard yes, but it was going to be worth it when it was all said and done. "Is that something we really want to put on our kid?" She frowned.
"Well, it's the only other thing besides the other thing we discussed which you shot down for one reason and I shot down for another reason...." I shrugged. "And think about it. We'll be giving a kid a wonderful home, raise them in the most perfect setting ever, and be able to give that lucky kid a loving family." I explained.
"You're right. You're right." She sighed. I knew I was right. It was very rare when I was wrong, but I was right. Pippa slid into her skinny jeans then walked over to me while throwing her shirt on. "You're always right." Her hands cupped my face and her lips met mine for a few little kisses
"I know." I smirked when she pulled away. "You may or may not have fans out there waiting for you... You should go to them." I whispered. "Before they riot."
"I know. I'll be back before you know it." She said while running out of the dressing room. How, how did I get so lucky with her??
~~~
We landed seven hours later in England to meet with my family. We were only staying a week, which sucked, but at least I was going to be able to see them again. Pippa and I held our hands together walking through the terminal to baggage claim. My family found me and bombarded us with hugs and kisses.
"Oh it's been forever!" My grandfather laughed.
"It hasn't even been a year yet." I laughed while breaking away from their hugs.
"Where are my great grandchildren?" My grandmother asked. "You promised me." She pointed at me.
"Soon Grandma. Soon." I smiled. They engulfed Pippa in a hug together and I smiled. They were so accepting of us and only cared about getting more great grandchildren to coddle over.
The car ride home was fun. Looking at the many landmarks and enjoying everything from seeing towers to seeing farmland too. Pippa was still falling asleep, obviously trying to catch up on the lack of it on the plane. Of course there would be a crying baby on our flight. It didn't cry for long, but it was enough to keep her awake for most of the trip. Every time we hit a small bump or pothole in the road, she would jolt back up and looked out the window.
"You look very tired sweetie." My grandmother frowned.
"I am. I'm so sorry..." Pippa said quietly.
"Don't be. Jasmine said that you were busy with your show yesterday and then just caught a flight." She gave a sympathetic smile then turned back to watch the road. "You should try and get some rest. It's a bit of a drive." She laughed. Pippa nodded and looked back out at the country fields we were passing through. My grandparents lived far away enough to not worry about city noise, but not too far to where they were completely in the sticks. I loved it here. Everything was quiet, no one really bothered you, and I got to eat some pretty cool food while I was here too. The one thing that made it so much better was that Pippa was here to enjoy with me too.
