Back in Those Days
Draco headed back to the cave, him, Blaise, and Makayla had gotten the fire started, and now Makayla was using her ocelot form to hunt while Blaise kept the fire from going out. Draco would have stayed with him, but, he wanted to check on Jack and Pansy, make sure they were both still alive.
Jack wasn't even there, he could have gone to find more water. . . . Draco tried not to think of all the possibilities of where he could be. Pansy was awake and leaning against the wall. The rags Draco and Jack used to cut off her blood flow were gone. The poison had wore off. Thank Merlin.
"Hey, wanna get out of this dark cave? Makayla is going to get something to eat." Draco offered, she nodded and Draco helped her get to the fire. He practically carried her, but, he didn't mind, Pansy had been his best female friend since around first year.
"Pans, your awake. Careful." Blaise commented as Draco had her sit down by the fire.
"Morning." Pansy said, as though it was any normal day. She didn't like to be looked at as weak. She was an abnormally strong girl. Actually, all the girls in the Wanderers were abnormally strong.
"Im going to see if I can find Makayla and help her." Draco said, Pansy didn't seem to be in a good mood, and he didn't like to stick around when she wasn't in a good mood. She wasn't like the Pansy in his world, she was meaner. Draco turned into a Lynx and took off to find Makayla. She had a specific scent, not too strong, but sweet. Good, made her easy to find. When he felt like he was getting close, he slowed down, he didn't want to scare away whatever animal she was tracking.
"Hey, get down." Makayla whispered to him, she was behind a bush, Draco looked ahead, a rabbit, at least she had found something. He crouched down in the bushes next to the Ocelot, he had just now noticed, but, her eyes were brown. Weren't they a different color when she was a human?
He ignored the thought. It did seem like her fur had a special pattern.
"How did you get so good at hunting?" Draco asked quietly, watching the way she prowled through the bush and leapt at the bunny, she missed, but she was really, really close.
"Iv been an Animagus longer than you have. Iv had more practice. You wanna learn?" Makayla asked. Draco didn't like the thought of being taught how to hunt by anyone, he wanted to learn himself. But he'd let her do it of course, he had gone soft.
"I guess." Draco responded.
"First, you we have to find that rabbit again. Pick up it's scent and find it." Makayla ordered. Draco could do this part. He had been tracking scents for a while, he found Makayla through scent didn't he?
Draco put his Lynx nose to the air, first of all, the air was moist, wet. He didn't like the feeling on his nose, but he kept breathing it in. The rabbit had a wet dog smell. He followed it, and the small rabbit sized tracks that led to a burrow.
Two little ears poked out of a hole nearby.
"Good job, now, wait for it to come back out. While we wait, arch your back to stretch it, then we can work on your prowl and pouncing." Makayla offered. Draco nodded as best he could in cat form. He did as told, and did his best prowl. She put her paw on his back and made him go lower. She pushed his right paw forward. And then the rabbit came back out. "Push up, like you would during Quidditch. Now!" Makayla urged, he leapt forward, his front paws landing on the rabbit.
"I got it!" He yelled of excitant. Then he went back to his normal self. "Of course I caught it." He changed himself. But in the process, he let the thing go.
"Good job. Now we've got to get you to do it again." Makayla said, she went after the rabbit at top speed. Draco followed in suit.
