Back in Those Days

Hermione paced back and forth, barely paying any attention to the beautiful sunset, Draco had left it up to her to say whether or not she wanted to live in Makayla's Manor, or Manors, apparently she had multiple. It took her a while to admit it, but she did eventually. Hermione was on the front porch of the destroyed Malfoy Manor, she had to decide what was best for everyone.

On one hand, it might be dangerous for Justin and Teddy to stay on a preserve for magical creatures, on the other hand, it would also be dangerous to stay at the manor as Lucius and Draco made repairs on it, which they could do within two or three days, depending on how many people helped them with the magic.

All of that, and she didn't want to intrude on the Scamander family.

Hermione sat down on the creaky stairs of the porch as the sun snaked away, that and her legs hurt.

She pulled her sleeve up, she had almost forgotten about her scars, with everything going on. The one telling her what she was, and the other one connecting her to the death eaters. Connected to the death eaters!?

"Draco!" Hermione yelled, she stood up as quickly as her sore legs would take her and ran in the house. She collided with Draco and groaned.

"What? You ok?" He asked. Hermione nodded and took a moment to breathe after running.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I made my decision, and I think I have a way that can help us defeat Voldemort."  She said after a pause. "I want to stay here, I'll take the boys to a park or something while everyone else stays and helps with repairs. And Draco, the dark marks, don't you have the ability to activate them, we'll be able to tell whenever Voldemort summons the death eaters and then we'll know when he's alone. Draco we can finally get him." Hermione said eagerly. Draco looked at the sleeve covering his arm.

"Yes Hermione, but he knows when a mark is activated. He'd know and then he'd be able to torture us until we gave in." Draco said, Hermione groaned and pet her forehead on his chest. She was already exhausted and for once she just wanted to come up with a good idea. "But, I did come up with something else that might help us." Of course he did, but Draco came up with all the good ideas. Hermione stood up straight so he could reach into his pockets and pull out a necklace.

"What is it?" Hermione asked, it was pretty, but she didn't understand how it could help them. It was a simple coin with a hole in the middle, another hole was forced through the coin and a thick brown string went through it. The coin looked old, it wasn't rusty, but it was a dark bronze.

"Whenever you're in trouble, mine along with every else's will burn and show your name initials. If someone else is in trouble, it'll burn yours and show their initials. And last of all, it'll show where you are." Draco said. Hermione lifted her hair up as he put the necklace around her neck. She swallowed hard. Sometimes she went on strolls alone in the woods, and went other places, and some places she didn't want to be followed.

"Will the boys get one too?" Hermione asked, her first thought when it came to safety was Teddy and Justin, the kids meant the world to her in every way. Draco nodded, pulling two more necklaces out of his pocket, Hermione noticed tiny initials engraved into the coin, she looked at her own, yep, there were some engraved in hers too.

"Just so we can know who's is who's." Draco noted when he saw her notice the initials. Hermione nodded knowingly.

"Where's Justin and Teddy now?" Hermione asked as the thought dawned on her.

"They went for ice cream with the twins and their girlfriends." Draco said. "Just to calm them down after the attack."

"Fred has a girlfriend? Hermione asked, Draco grinned and shook his head.
