Maya kept a firm grip on George, what if these weren't her parents? What if it was like what happened with Bella? What if they were there to finish them off? These questions and more flooded into Maya's brain as she stared at her parents.
"Maya." Her mother began, she walked towards her but stopped when she saw Maya tense and grip George tighter.
"Tell me something only my parents would know, both of you." Maya said, her voice had never been so small. She hated it being so small, especially in front of George. Her father motioned for her mother to go first.
"You always wondered why the stars shined so bright, you said you were lured to the sky, to the moon, to the ground, to the earth. And that nothing could get in your way." Her mother paused to smile and look at Maya's father. "Other than your father of course. He ruined all your fun didn't he?" She joked. Maya smiled a little bit and nodded.
"Hey!" Her father looked hurt, dramatically of course.
"Her words, not mine." Her mother said defensively.
"Now, prove you're my dad." Maya said quietly. His face lit up and grinned brightly.
"You were born a wolf, and stayed that way until you were nine years old, then you first found out you had a human form. You still spent most of your time in animal form, and begging me and your mother to teach you how to hunt. Then, somehow, in that cave we stayed in, you got your letter and the only thing you wanted was to run away to Hogwarts, and you went. But that was only because I wasn't there to tell you no. I was in Azkaban by then." He explained. Maya almost ran to them and wrapped her arms around them, but he got one thing wrong. "Oh wait, my memory has deceived me. It wasn't a cave, it was that old fallen mossy pine tree that we were living in at the time, right by the village where we used to steal food." He corrected himself. Maya looked up at George to smile and tell him silently that this was them. He kissed her nose and let her go. She bolted over to her mother first as she was closer.
Her father swung her around as he hugged her.
"How are you alive?" She asked Sirius. Her mother never died, she just stayed hidden most of the time.
"Technically never died. I'll tell you about it later." Sirius said lightly, he just held onto her for a moment longer before looking at George. "So you're the boyfriend? Or do you just happen to kiss her nose all the time?" Dad asked dramatically, making unneeded hand movements just to put emphasis to what he was saying. George's eyes flickered to Maya for a moment before moving back to her dad's. His mouth hung open for a second, then he closed it and just nodded.
Maya walked back towards George and tried to stop her father from doing the father talk on her boyfriend.
"Dad." Maya warned.
"Maya." He warned in return and pressed forward towards the two. (They were slowly walking backwards but they weren't too far from a wall).
"Sirius." Her mother chimed in seriously. Maya looked at her gratefully but it wasn't over yet.
"Kate, I'm just trying to figure out a thing or two." He looked back at George. "Do you love her?"
"Dad! Don't make him answer that-"
"-Yes." George interrupted Maya. Her mouth hung open, she wasn't facing the ginger, but the look on her father's face said he was serious. She blinked a few times. He'd never said that to her face before. She turned around and faced George, her mouth still hanging open. He grinned, which made her melt and smile back.
"I love you too ginger." Maya replied quietly and half jokingly. He looked up at his hair and grinned once more. He leaned down and kissed her quickly before looking back at her parents. They had backed down and were standing a little bit away now. Maya was so happy until there came allot of yelling from Justin and Hermione's room. All the healers ran to the room as Draco called them.
"What's wrong!?" The healer asked.
"She stopped breathing." Draco said quietly, but with ears like Maya's, she heard the whole thing over the yelling that was going around.
