Scarlett was the most popular girl in school. The best at everything and everyone wanted to be her. Except her best friend Crystal who was her equal in everything in life. Her future was all mapped out, and nothing could change it. Until the new guy...
"Scarlett honey, Michael is out front waiting for you, you're going to be late for school if you don't hurry! He's such a sweet boy, don't make him late too!" Her mother had yelled to her from down stairs. Scarlett was just putting the finishing touches on her makeup and putting the Bobby pins in her pony tail, so the loose pieces of hair would stay down. "Coming mom!" Scarlett said as she raced down the stairs and slowed down for a kiss. Her mom was handing her a fresh blueberry muffin for the road. "You know me so well momma." She told her mother. "Take 2. You know that boys mother doesn't feed him, he needs to eat! Poor boy is so thin!" "YES mother."
She ran out to the car, flung open the car door and threw her books in the back seat. "Your dad's not going to appreciate that you stole his car again. One day you'll get in trouble." She scolded him while smiling. "Well, today is not that day, haha." He laughed and revved his engine as he slammed it into first gear and sped off like a bat out of hell. Michael always said his dad was going to give him that car one day, so he might as well start driving it now. He was almost a year older than her, but they were both in the same grade. "My mom must think your dad is driving." She said while laughing. She always tried so hard to be perfect, but she loved the danger he posed for her. He was wild and exciting, and if her mother knew half the things he had done in his life already, she'd have banned him from seeing Scarlett. But Scarlett had a plan for her life. At least, she was planning to have a plan, and Michael was a big part of it. Since she wanted to be a singer, and he was teaching her to play the guitar she wanted him in her band. Since they already sang together all the time. He played alot of Nirvana, and his own stuff. They would write songs together. She just loved to be around him, he made her so happy. He had wrote a few songs, just for her. Self titled them. 'Scarlett.' She just adored them. The first time she heard them, she cried. They were always so beautiful.

They pulled into the school parking lot and he drove over to where the teachers park, and pulled into the principals parking spot. As always. He looked over at her, and stroked her face with the backs of his fingers. "You look really beautiful today. Do you have any plans after school today?" He asked. "I thought I'd go with Jackie to the mall, but I don't have anything to do there. It's boring at home. Dad's always working and mom's always cooking. Why, did you want to go do something?" As she asked that, they heard a tap tap tap on his car window. "Excuse me, Mr. O'Connor, Mr. O'Connor? I can see you in there. I need to speak with you in the office please. Right now. Ms. Newton, you may go to class." "But we are early Mrs. French. School doesn't even start for another 5 minutes." Scarlett said. "If school doesn't start yet, then I'm not coming in yet." Michael told her, sternly.
"Michael Dean O'Connor! Get out here this instant!" It was his mother. "We are going to the office, there are officers there waiting to speak with you." I watched as his smile faded to a look of something evil. "What the hell Michael, your MOM? What on earth is she even doing here." But Michael just sat there, and became Expressionless. He hated his mother, and I knew it. There was no way he was getting out of the car. "Scar, honey. I need you to get out of the car. Calmly and quietly." "Michael, what's going on right now? Did you do something?" She asked. "Yes. And I'm not dealing with my mother. I wont deal with that... whatever she is. She is not a mother, never has been, never will be. I hate her. She has done nothing but horrible things to me, and I will never speak to her again. I don't know why she is here, and I'm not getting out of the car. But you are." He was looking down in his lap, then he slowly looked up at her. He started to look sad, then, he just looked angered. "Michael, I'm not..." She began. "Get out!" He shouted. It made her jump and she wasn't sure what to do, she had never seen this side of him before. "But Michael." She said, reaching for his cheek. Before she knew it, he was reaching over her to open the door. He wouldn't even look at her. "Now." She grabbed her books, and leaned in for a kiss. He turned away and she began to cry. She had no idea what brought this on. But she was scared. Without another word, she got out of the car, slammed the door, and began walking to class. She could hear the adults screaming behind her at Michael, but all she heard from Michael were screeching tires. In front of her were police cars by the office. What on earth had he gotten himself into?
Other than whispers from other kids at school, she never did know what really happened and no one that did know, would tell her. His father moved, and his number was disconnected. If he wanted to be found, he would have made it easier. It was like he was never there. And that was the last she had seen of him. Until now.
