Bentley

The next day at school, everyone was talking about their SAT scores. Some students not doing well, others doing great. Lots of students asking her how she did. She only said "I did pretty good." She wasn't the bragging type, and getting a 1600 was a big deal. She didn't want to be made a big deal over. The morning classes brought up prom and talked about some SAT scores with students, and they ended up mentioning the highest scoring students in the school. Scarlett being one of them, and she received the attention she wasn't really wanting at the time.

"Excuse me, Miss Bradshaw? I need to use the restroom."
"Of course Miss Newton Hurry back."
She grabbed her bag and ran out to the hallway. She didn't really need to use the restroom, she just needed an excuse to get out of there. She needed air, and it felt like all the oxygen had left the room she was in.

Coming around the last corner near the bathroom she thought she had heard someone behind her, so she turned around. She saw no one. Turning back around to continue walking to the bathroom she turned a corner and bumped right into someone, knocking herself down to the ground.
"Oh my gosh! Are you ok?" She heard a manly, deep almost baritone voice.
She had an irritated look on her face, and was rubbing her side, where she hit the ground. Someone had put out their hand to help her up. "I'm fine. I should have been watching where I was going. I'm sorry I didn't see you."
"Wow, Scarlett? Is that you?"
When she finally stood up, she looked up, into the eyes of Ryan Bentley. The guy she dated in 7th grade when Michael was with Jackie. But he had went to a different school shortly after. "Ryan! How are you?" She was glad to see him, but not too excited. Since the last time they spoke, she had broken up with him, due to Michael.
"I'm great, I'm just here for the assembly next hour. I'm directing it."
"Assembly?" Scarlett asked, not knowing there was going to be one.
"Yes, with the colleges? I'm here to talk to the seniors?"
"Oh, I remember now."
She didn't, she must have been so busy lately that she had forgotten all about it. "Aren't you in the same grade as I am though? Why would you be talking for the colleges?"
"I graduated early. I came here from Juilliard. I'm the student they choose to come here today."
She was in a shock. "Juilliard? That's where I applied to!"
"Well then, I guess I'll have to put in a good word for you then." And he smiled at her. She smiled back, brushing her hair behind her ear. "You seem to be in a hurry."
"Ya, bathroom calls haha." Seriously? Did I just say that? She thought.
"Well then. You should go. I'll see you later?"
"Ya, I guess you will!"
She hurried along the rest of the hallway to the bathroom, rushing in the door and grabbing her phone from her purse. She sent a quick text to Crystal.

Scarlett- CRYSTAL! I JUST SAW RYAN!

Crystal- Who?

Scarlett- Ryan. Bentley? I told you about him. The guy I broke up with cause I was still stuck on Michael in the 7th grade?

Crystal- not ringing any bells

Scarlett- seriously!!?!?? How am I supposed to handle this situation right now if you can't remember a simple conversation?

Crystal- if it's just that simple, why are you freaking out?

Scarlett- CAUSE IT'S NOT SIMPLE!
