"Well, thank you for walking me home... my nurse in shining denim."
Brian said to Scarlett. She had decided after Michael left, that her date was now over, and she wanted to walk him home. He did have a nice house.

"Can I show you something before you go back?"
She looked around, not really in a rush to get back to the hotel.
"Yes, of course."
Brian looked excited.
He walked around the house, to the back. It overlooked the beach.
There was a hut there, near the water but still back by the trees. It was made with perfection and looked as though he had spent a lot of time building it. Between the trees, was a hammock, tied to two trees.
He gestured for her to sit in it beside him, as he sat down.

"How are you doing?"
He asked her, but her hands were folded in her lap, and she was just staring down at them.
"I just keep telling myself that I'm over him, and he keeps showing up! It's frustrating!"
She looked up to the stars.

"We've known each other for so long, that we just felt like we were supposed to be together."
"That's how it's supposed to feel... when you love someone. You still love him. Don't you."
The last part wasn't a question, but an observation.

"Well, I don't want to. Does that count?"
They both laughed, and laid back in the hammock, just staring at the stars together.

"Well, I knew when I asked you on this date, that it wasn't as though you'd be moving here to be with me or anything. It was just that. A date. So, I'm not expecting anything from you when you leave. I just knew from the moment I saw you, that I had to know you. Even if it was only temporary."

She looked up into his eyes... kissed his cheek, and nestled herself in the crook of his arms. They spent the night watching the stars. She was so comfortable with him there, that she never wanted to leave, but it was only because when she left... reality would happen.
Life would happen.
And she was severely disinterested in the reality that life had been throwing at her.
She'd be leaving soon for college, in New York and she was scared to death. She wasn't in a hurry to get there but she knew that as soon as she did, her new life would begin.
No more Michael
No more high school drama
No more lying on the beach with Brian
She would have to focus. Her and Crystal both. They were both very excited about that but at the same time, right now all she wanted was to sit in this hammock, ignoring all of her problems and just relax and watch the stars with Brian.

---

Scarlett woke up the next morning, still in the hammock, but she was alone. She sat up quickly. Forgetting she was in a hammock, she sat up, and spun over behind herself, falling head over heels, onto her butt.

She laid there for a few moment, and then after getting a visual in her head of what that probably looked like from an outside perspective... She couldn't help but laugh.
After a few moments, she got up and dusted herself off and went inside the house to look for Brian.
When she found him, he was in the kitchen cooking, and without even turning around he says, "I hope youre hungry." Just as he flips a pancake out of the pan, in the air and back in the pan.

"That was awesome! Can you do it again?"
He laughed and turned around to see her face as he sucked some of the batter from his thumb, and with the pan still in his other hand, he flips the pancake again. Never taking his eyes off of hers.

"Do you have something I can change into, so I can take a shower and wash these clothes quick?"
"Ya, just pick whatever fits from my closet."
"Cool. How long til breakfast is ready? I kinda fell out of the hammock, and I need this sand out of my hair."
She giggled.
"Ya, about 10 minutes?"
"Good, I'll be right back. Just need a quick rinse."
She ran by the washer, threw her clothes in it, put it to the smallest size load, and jumped in the shower.

Trying to be fast, she just soaped up, and rinsed off. When she got out of the shower, she put the towel around her and while going through his closet, realized that other than his boxers and his shirts, he was a few sizes too big to fit her.

Great... She thought, now I get to be the typical cliche, of course my clothes aren't even in the dryer. Well, might as well enjoy this.

She grabbed his nicest dress shirt and boxers... and after towel drying her hair, she took a deep breath and walked back into the kitchen.
"Hey Brian, turns out I'm too small for your..."
Suddenly there was a loud crash that made her jump!
Brian was standing in front of her and had dropped the entire tray of food he was carrying over to the table after seeing her.

"That's my... um.. my uh.. um... Ya... too small, huh? Oh God!"
Scarlett couldn't help but chuckle.
