5:30am MONDAY
(INDEPENDENCE DAY)

"Rey." Rey rolled open her eyes to see someone standing over her.

"Rey wake up." The voice spoke again. She propped herself on her elbows and glanced around the room. Her tiny side lamp had been turned on and the most vexatious sound blared throughout the room.

"Your alarm has been going off for the past eleven minutes." Poe spoke, groggy and irritated sounding.

Rey glanced at her phone, snatching it off the table and shutting off the alarm.

"Sorry, I-I'm a heavy sleeper." She apologized, swinging her legs over the side of her bed.

She glanced outside and saw it was still pitch black. "My mother always said if that if your up before the sun, you're up too early." Poe spoke, his voice still raspy.

Rey chuckled, "I can agree with your mom on that one."

"We better go shower before the there's a line." Poe stated throwing on a tee shirt and sliding on his shoes.

"I don't have any towels." Rey squeaked pulling her short brunette hair into a bun.

Poe didn't respond, he simply walked to the closet and opened it. On the top shelf were clean white towels stacked like pancakes.

He tossed Rey one and folded one over his arm. "Oh, thanks." Rey said slipping on some slippers. She walked to the door and opened it.

Poe followed her into the hallway and shut the door behind them. "Shit, I forgot my stuff--"

Rey swiftly pivoted on her foot, ready to run back into the room, but Poe stopped her.

"No you don't." Poe stated. His hand was on her chest and they were awfully close.

Rey let out a flustered breath and felt a burning sensation crawl up her neck, "W-Why not?"

"They have shampoo and conditioner in the showers in those little dispenser shits." Poe smirked.

Rey nodded, "Oh, of course."

She turned back around and headed in the direction of the bathrooms. Poe walked next to her, glancing at her every once and while.

"Not a morning person?" He asked.

"Huh?" Rey turned her head, "Oh, no not at all."

"Yeah, me neither." Poe shrugged, throwing his towel over his shoulder like an expensive scarf.

The two continued to walk in silence until the short walk came to an end.

"I'll meet you back at the room." Poe stated before walking into the men's room.

"Okay." Rey responded.

She pressed on the door and walked into the bathroom. Surprisingly, no one joined her for her early morning shower.

Rey walked to the stall on the end, peeking into a mirror hoping she didn't look as bad as she thought.

The door opened and she placed her towel on the tiny hanger on the side of the shower.

As she slipped off her shoes, the cold tile floor traveled up her legs, making her shiver.
