Chapter 16

"Alright," Hux yelled, hushing the students as the sun beat down on his porcelain skin, "Now that the slower bunch of the flock have now completed the mile run we will now head inside and Ren will decide your fate." 

The students exchanged looks, some rolling their eyes. "Inside, now!"

"Aaron!" Poe yelled, jogging towards the sweat covered wildebeest. "Aaron hey."

Aaron glanced out of the corner of his eye down to the five foot nine man next to him. "What do you want Poe." 

"Um do you know where Rey went by chance?" Poe asks messing with his hair. "I mean like I know where she went, she went inside with Kylo but like do you know ab--"

"No Poe. I don't know why she went inside with him." Aaron cut him off, breathing heavily. Poe watched as beads of sweat rolled down the side of Aaron's face. 

"Well thanks anyway Aaron--"

"Do you like her or something?" Aaron interrupted once again.

Poe cocked an eyebrow, chuckling in disbelief, "What?"

"Are you and Rey, like, fucking or something?" Aaron asked nonchalantly. Poe let out a laugh, "W-Why would you think that?"

Aaron rolled his eyes, "Poe, come ONNN. Do you really think that you can convince me that you don't have a thing for Rey?"

"Well I-I, uh" Poe stammered rubbing his chin. "Its okay, I'm an observant bitch." Aaron shrugged, turning towards Poe and winking before walking off.

"Fuck." Poe mumbled. "What did Fat Albert have to say?" Bren grunted walking with Biggs next to his left.

"Shut the fuck up." Poe scoffed before walking off. Bren squinted his eyes, raising his hands, "What'd I do??"

Biggs chuckled, slapping him the chest before jogging behind Poe. "Shit."

There the both of them stood, their insides mashed together, creating a bloody mess within themselves, but on the outside they positioned themselves, divided.

Connected by the strings holding their souls in tact, Ren's chest bounced with every breath he took. 

"I-I'm sorry, for everything. I honestly don- um- don't know what was happening with me." Rey rambled, unraveling her bandaged knuckles. 

Ren watched observantly, sliding off his blue circle pads and throwing them on the floor. He slowly shuffled over to the frightened girl, towering over her.

She shrunk, trying to hide from his overwhelming stature. She glanced towards his face, his eyes penetrating her shallow stare. 

"I, um, think they're coming inside soon so I, uh, better get lined up--"

"Rey." Ren spoke faintly, wrapping his fingers around Rey's slender wrist.

She froze, holding on to desperately to the sound of his voice as her name slithered out of his mouth. "I know you."

Her pupils throbbed, struggling to capture his face into her memory. "Yes, you do." She whispered, her vocal cords straining inside her throat, barely even making a sound.

His frail eyes recording the sound of her breath whistling against her teeth creating an S sound inside his mind.

The sound of the metal doors cracking against the latch of the door splitting the two of them, shattering the orbit they had created with their minds, mentally tying their hearts together. 

"Line up!" Hux shouted sauntering into the gym, his shoes creating a light tap on the wooden floorboards below him.

Rey grasped the back of her neck awkwardly refraining from eye contact with Ren as she walked past him.
