Chapter 29

Alis POV

Like we had planned, me and Matt were going to spend time in our room.

When we entered, I plopped down on the couch.

"Well someone looks tired." He joked.

"Im not, really. Just full."

"Oh okayyy." He nodded and put his phone on the table next to the couch.

"What, youre not?" I asked.

"No, actually. I want ice cream, you want some?"

"No, im good." I replied.

He then walked around the corner to the kitchen.

Suddenly, his phone started ringing.

It was an unknown number.

"Matt, your phones ringing!" I called out.

"Who is it?" He asked.

"I dont know, theres no caller ID."

"Can you answer it?"

"Yeah."

I picked up the phone and held it to my ear.

"Hello?" I spoke.

"Matt! Its Mary, why havent you called?"

Okay, this was strange. And, she thought I was Matt. Who was this girl?

"What are you talking about?"

"Oh, dont play stupid, Matthew. Its weird. Weve known eachother for years, you come back for break and we hit it off. Then, you promise to call me but you dont. Instead, you ignore me."

I froze. I couldnt believe what I was hearing.

Matt cheated on me.

Cheated.

And he didnt tell me.

I was furious.

Matt heard the silence. He came rushing in. Once he saw me, his face fell. He mouthed 'hang up'.

"Who are you?" I asked the girl, tears about to spill.

"Im Matts close friend, Mary. Who are you?"

"Im Matts girlfriend." I spoke through clenched teeth. I was beyond mad.

"Oh, I didnt know he had a girlfriend."

He stood there, in front of me. Watching everything I did. A look of sadness on his face.

"Yeah, well he doesnt anymore." I looked at him.

I hung up the phone and threw it on the couch.

I shook my head at him and marched out the door.

He grabbed my arm. "Wait!"

"Dont touch me!" I jerked away from his grip.

"Ali, you dont understand." He choked out weakly, he was crying.

"I dont? YOU CHEATED ON ME. And you didnt tell me!"

"I wanted to-"

"Oh shut up Matt! Just..shut up." I said crying.

"I care about you." He said, grabbing my elbows, trying to hug me.

"No you dont! Just STAY AWAY from me. I dont even know who you are anymore." I pushed him away, in tears. I couldnt even look at him. I grabbed the doorknob and walked out, slamming it behind me.
