Alis POV
I woke up late the next morning; it was already lunch time.
I slowly got out of bed and walked to my bathroom. I washed my face, brushed my teeth and combed my hair. I didnt change my clothes just yet since I had no plans.
I walked downstairs to get some food. I saw Rick reading a newspaper in the kitchen.
"Morning, well afternoon." He chuckled.
"Morning." I said, opening the fridge.
"Got any plans for today?" He asked.
"No. I'm still a little tired from yesterday.
"What'd you do yesterday?"
"Well my friends from the tour invited me to an event. Then we hung out after since they were in town."
"Which friends?"
"Matt."
"Your ex-boyfriend, Matt?"
"Yeah. We're still really close." I said spreading butter on my bagel.
"Thats nice. What did you do?"
"Made a video, talked, just hung out. I'm seeing him tomorrow again when I leave for Canada."
"Your mother missed you. But you're coming back in a week and a half so I think she'll manage."
"Yeah. And she has you everyday." I said.
"She does." He nodded.
Now was the time. I needed to ask him about marrying my mom. They had been dating for 3 years, he lived with us and they really loved each other. And I knew my mom would be much happier if she was married to him.
"So about my mom. Are you thinking of proposing or something..?"
"Well...I was. I just didnt know how you would feel about it."
"Oh." I said, I could tell he was going to ask me a follow up.
"So, how would you feel about me asking your mom to marry me? We could be a family."
Woah. I had always knew this day would come, but now that it finally has, it was harder to comprehend than I thought.
"Yeah," I said smiling. "That would make her really happy."
"Good. I'll propose soon."
I smiled and put my plate in the sink.
As I headed up the stairs, I couldn't help but think about how much my life was going to change.
I would actually have a dad--even if it was my step-dad.
I wasnt too thrilled about him being my father, I didnt love him. But, my mom did. And that was good enough for me.
As I turned the corner into my room, I reached for my phone to call Taylor.
It rang a few times until he picked up.
"Hey babe." He said cheerfully.
"Hey, you seem happy." I laughed.
"I am."
"Why?"
"Cause...I get to see you tomorrow!" He said fastly.
"I know! I have so much to tell you!"
"Oooohh tell me now."
I giggled. "Okay, what do you want to hear first: friends or family?"
"Friends."
