Alis POV

After the bonfire, I crashed at Tiffanys house. I was too tired to drive back. I only had about 4 days left until Magcon Toronto.

Today, I was going back home. Well, I already was.

I got out of the car and lugged my suitcase to the front door. I rang the bell and just the person that I wanted to see opened the door...Rick.

"Alison! I've missed you!" He said hugging me. I hugged back lightly and dodged his kiss. My mom came down the stairs at just the right time.

"Alison! I've missed you so much." She said coming up to me. I gave her a hug and then released.

"I've missed you too mom. How are you?"

"Good. Its an empty nest around here!" She joked.

"You have me." Rick laughed.

"How was Tiffanys?" She asked.

"Great! We had a bonfire with everyone."

"Thats nice honey. How about you do the laundry and wash your clothes, then I can make lunch for you and me so we can catch up."

"Sounds good."

I went up to my room and unloaded my bag. Then, Rick came into my room with the laundry basket.

"Here you go, thought you would need it." He said handing it to me.

"Thanks." I started putting my clothes in it.

"So," he said sitting down on my bed while I looked at him strangely. "Hows your boyfriend Matt doing?" He asked.

Oh yeah, the last time I talked to him I was dating Matt.

"Oh um, I'm not dating him anymore." I said awkwardly.

"Then who are you dating, Taylor?" He asked.

"Yeah, I am actually. I'm surprised you remembered."

"Of course I would. He's a nice kid." He nodded.

"Yeah, he really is."

"But, if he hurts you just come to me. I'll whip him into shape." He said getting up.

I laughed. "Okay da-Rick." I corrected myself.

He smiled and walked out of my room.

What the hell was that? I almost called Rick my dad.

I've always hated Rick. But maybe as I'm growing up, I need a dad like figure in my life. I never met my dad, so Rick was as close to one that I had. And I could tell he was really trying, he really loved my mom, and me. Especially with all the Taylor stuff. He was trying to act like my dad. Before, that made me upset. But now I realized that all my anger towards Rick was just anger towards my dad for leaving us. He was trying, so I should try too I guess. After all, he was probably going to be the one walking me down the aisle in a few years.

After putting my laundry in the wash I headed downstairs. My mom had made us sandwiches. I joined her at the table.

"So whats new?" She asked.

I sighed. "A lot of stuff."

"What about the boy department. Hows Matt?"

"I'm not with Matt anymore. I'm with Taylor." I told her, she must have forgot.

"Oh really? Hes such a sweet boy!"

I laughed. "Yep."

"So how long have you been together?"
