Somebody was talking. And it woke her up, so Caitlyn turned over and snuggled under the covers more, trying to drown out the noise.
"Caitlyn?" Finally Nate's voice registered in her mind and her eyes shot open at the sound.
Then she remembered where she was. She wasn't on a tour bus trying to get some sleep, or curled up at the back of a dance studio for some shut eye. It was morning. And she was sleeping in a cabin that she shared with Nate.
She sat up quickly, rubbing her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Nate smiling over at her and taking one of two mugs off the table.
"Yeah?" She asked, her throat dry and her voice still groggy from sleep.
"It's nearly time for the staff breakfast, but I bring coffee." He stated, while walking over to her with a mug and handing it over. "I remembered you don't function without it."
"For the record, I blame the insane dance schedule I have lived on for years now." She stated before taking a sip from the mug and sighing in satisfaction, "I knew there was a reason I was glad you're here." She quipped, feeling the sleepiness already dissipating from her mind.
Then she cringed on the inside when she finally took note of their situation, she was in her random pyjamas and she was pretty sure her hair looked like she had been dragged through a bush backwards. While Nate was standing there, fully dressed and looking alert. But Nate didn't even bat an eye at her appearance and she took a gulp of the coffee, "I officially love you. This coffee is amazing." She told him.
"Glad I know why you keep me around so." He teased, making his way over to the table and sitting down with his own cup.
"When is the breakfast?" She asked from her bed.
"In about fifteen minutes." He told her after glancing at his watch. "And I checked our timetables, they suck for today, but we have all evening free later for distractions and new directions."
"Got it." She said before placing her cup down, telling him not to touch her coffee, and racing to get ready for the day. She dragged a brush through her hair and washed her face, threw on some clothes and was ready in record time, even for her.
"Ready to do?" She asked, picking up her bag.
"You're quick getting ready." He mentioned, "I always have to give Dana at least an hours' notice."
She smiled, but inside she cringed, she didn't like being compared to Dana. At all. "Yeah well my career was basically built on quick costume changes." She shrugged as they locked up their cabin and went walking toward the mess hall.
It looked like they were the last ones to arrive, most of the seats were taken. Caitlyn wasn't a paranoid person, but something was bugging her as they made their way to the buffet to help themselves to breakfast.
"Is it me..." Nate said, leaning in to whisper in her ear, "...or does it feel like we've just walked into Camp Star again?"
She looked at him question while he nodded toward the rest of the crowd, who by now were mostly silent, and not so discreetly glancing in their direction.
She sighed, raising her eyebrows at him, "Nope, I got that feeling too..."
They had just found an empty corner to sit in when Brown came in, with Dee hot on his heels. "Good morning my rockin' staff. Alright, it's the official first day madness we have to be ready for. Campers breakfast in t minus twenty minutes." Brown went on about the timetabling but Caitlyn had zoned out. Because most of the people in the room were still looking at her.
