"Hey Caitlyn?" Nate asked before they even got to leave the town.

"Yeah?" She asked, she was back strumming her guitar in the passenger seat, she had managed to wrangle from the chaos of their things in the backseat.

"I know it's late, but what do you say we have that overdue road trip?" His eyes flashed with excitement. "Brown won't get back for ages so we have some time."

In that car, with him sitting beside her, it felt like they had all the time in the world.

"Okay but we just passed that gas station back there, you better turn around and go back to it, we need to stock up on all that candy right?" She grinned.

He laughed, like he used to do as a little kid, throwing his head back and didn't reply, he just pulled over and turned around.

It broke her heart like it always did, that he was essentially afraid of people. Too many people knew him and he was scared of what stories and rumours that they could create that would hurt him and those he cared about. He nearly got out of the car but pulled back at the last second.

Seemingly remembering that he was in fact a global superstar of one of the most successful bands of their time and not the sixteen year old boy he had been when they had planned the trip.

She wanted to make a joke like she had back when the Gray brothers first found fame, that he was full of himself if he thought people would even look twice at him. It was such irony, because it was Shane's ego that needed to be kept in check.

"You can come with me you know." Sure they had shut down the floor of the department store for them to look around without Nate being mobbed, it was the perks of being known in his home town, but she was sure a garage would be fine.

"If someone sees me..."

"Remember? You're having a great fun-filled break. Peggy is scheduling your pictures from the engagement party to go up later on right? So you can be seen stopping for some snacks on the way home."

"I know...but you're with me." He was still scared the media attention would send her running for the hills. She wondered if he still had doubts that she could still act like Dana.

She knew she wasn't going to win the argument. She shrugged, "Okay, I'll run in. What's your list?"

She ended up taking two trips, going back and reporting what the shop stocked and doubling the amount of candy they thought they could actually eat. She also bought a local road map with all the tourist spots highlighted. "We have our route home." She told him, circling the first stop on the map with a pen she had bought.

"You're going to make a scrapbook out of that aren't you?" Nate mused as they pulled off again.

"Maybe." She retorted but she knew she would. With her parents making their living singing on cruise ships, they had seen a lot of places in the world. One way to keep little Caitlyn occupied when they brought her with them was to bring her sightseeing at the different spots and then sit her down at night while they were performing and giving her any and all materials to make a scrapbook on each place she'd been.

She had kept the hobby up as best she could over the years and the Grays always made sure to send her postcards from their stops on their world tours to add to her collection.

They stopped by a local museum that was more worn down than the items they were showing. They chatted about how all their childhood dreams matched up to their dreams that day while trying to consume as much of the candy as they could before they stopped again.
