The pictures did not do the hotel justice. It was just outside the town, hidden away in it's own private estate to ensure there was enough privacy for the happy couple. With the trees surrounding it, it almost gave the sense of being not too far from camp.
Caitlyn nearly launched herself out of her car when she saw her best friend standing at the door of the main reception waiting for her.
"You're here!" Mitchie squealed, practically jumping up and down in excitement.
"I'm here!" Caitlyn shouted back before they were hugging like it was the end of camp and they had to part ways at the end of the summer.
"You're engaged!" Caitlyn laughed.
"I'm engaged!"
"Nice to see you too Cait..." Shane laughed as he helped Nate carry their bags from the car.
"Hey Shane!" She beamed before running to him to wrap her arms around his neck, "I've missed you too. Congratulations!"
"Caitlyn!" The eldest Gray brother came through the doors followed by their parents.
"Jason!"
They then proceeded to re-enact their entire secret handshake they had created before she even became a teenager. Shane mockingly rolled his eyes just like he used to about how 'uncool' they had been.
Jack and Ellen Gray both greeted her with warm hugs.
"Oh it's been too long Caitlyn. How have you been?" Jack asked.
"Look at you, you look wonderful like usual." Ellen smiled before pulling her into another hug. "Thank you for taking care of my baby this summer, he's lucky to have you as a friend." She whispered in Caitlyn's ear before letting go.
They had always been like a second set of parents to her when she had been a child. Taken her for a few weeks over holidays that her parents would be away. They had always treated her like family.
It felt like coming home.
The party was being set up so Caitlyn checked herself into her room and got ready for the party.
The party was in full swing just over an hour later after the other guests arrived. Various Gray family members she recognised from pictures as well as Mitchie's family. Mitchie's Mom and Dad welcomed her with warmth that only equalled the Gray's welcome.
There was plenty of hugs given around when their old camp mates started to filter in. Ella, Peggy, Tess, Barron and Sandor all arrived and Caitlyn felt like it was one of their best reunions yet.
"Are you enjoying yourself future Mrs Shane Gray?" Caitlyn asked as she stood beside Mitchie.
"It's awesome Caitlyn." Mitchie beamed with happiness.
Shane arrived back with their drinks and then wound his arm around Mitchie's waist.
Caitlyn was surprised by the pang in her heart at the sight of her two friends looking so in love. It felt something like jealously. Because she wanted that. She wanted a love like theirs.
Nate appeared, glancing back over his shoulder, "I've just escape Great Aunt June." He shuddered and Caitlyn laughed as Shane mimicked the shudder.
Before she glanced around behind her and saw something that made her stomach twist into knots.
"Oh my gosh." Caitlyn gasped, squirming as she turned back around to her little group.
"What is it?" Mitchie asked, looking around.
