Shifting

The scream was filled with pain, agony, and desperation. The whole house went dead silent and all attention was focused on where or who the sound was coming from.

"She's shifting get her outside in the backyard now!" My dad roared and suddenly I realized that it was my sister that was screaming. Chaos erupted throughout my house. Everyone was freaking out trying to dodge out of the way. When you shift your wolf is uncontrollable and unpredictable anyone in your path is in danger, the only person that can control your wolf is your mate.

Two men scooped up Misty and got her outside, her loud sobs made me even more terrified to shift. I knew it was going to hurt but seeing her flop around in pain scared me shitless.

Within seconds all I felt was fire and my body was starting to shake. I collapsed onto the ground while everyone was running about. I let out a scream with the same pain and agony my sister's held. My mate hunched over beside me.

"Shh it's okay, let's get you outside." He picked me up bridal style and the burning sensation ceased making it more bearable. Everyone bolted out of our way until we reached the backyard. My mate laid me a few feet away from my sister. The moment my body was no longer touching his the burning returned tenfold. My sister's whimpers of pain and the snapping of her bones dragged my attention away from my mate. He looked torn as he looked between my sister and I like he was having an inner battle with himself.

My bones started to crack and my gums felt like I was chewing on rocks from where my canine teeth were pushing against my inner gums. The pain took over all of my senses. My bones started snapping as my shifting begin to speed up. My nails elongated into claws and my arms and legs started to crack.

My mate looked at me with sad and concerned eyes as he grabbed my hand and squeezed it as if to calm me which worked briefly but what he did next shook me to my very core and not in a good way. He crawled over to my sister and scooped her shaking body in his hold as he comforted her.

"Shhh it's okay baby I'm right here. The shift is almost over hang in there." He smoothed her sweaty hair out of her face. Her body visually stopped shaking as one loud intense snapping and another ear piercing scream filled the air once more. Where she was laying now laid a black and grey wolf panting heavily. My mate pulled her closer and rubbed her back soothingly and suddenly I realized why he seemed so familiar my mate was none other than Daniel fucking Parker and instead of consoling me he chose my sister instead.

That pain masked over the shifting pain and it was as if my body went numb. I looked at my mate holding my sister and my heart broke, I could feel it inside of my chest.

The last few seconds of my shift were the worst moments of my life. I let out a deep sob as my body completed shifting. My vision was sensitive but much stronger like magnifying glasses. My hearing was amplified, I could hear everyone's hearts beating, bugs chirping in the woods, I could even hear my stupid sister purring with satisfaction as she cuddled up to my mate.

'That stupid bitch I'm going to rip her head off!' I heard a voice I've never heard before. I looked around but everyone except for my mom and dad had left.

'I'm Kimber, your wolf. Now that you have shifted we can communicate." She spoke softly.

'Maybe now you won't drive me crazy all the time.' I snapped at her and instantly regretted it.

'No hard feelings but I'm going to need you to get us out of here. I can't be around them.' She spat venomously and I immediately agreed wanting to get as far away from them as possible.
