"His vitals are stable, I have given him more blood to replenish what he lost during the fight, and his reflexes seem unaffected by the trauma. Now it's just a matter of when he wakes up to check brain function." The doc updated us as he filled out his chart. It had been almost fifteen hours and Daniel was still out cold. I was exhausted being that I had been awake for over twenty four hours.

"Happy Birthday! Today is the day!" I squealed loudly and full of excitment as I wrapped my arms around Olivia.

"Thank you! I am so nervous." She gushed, her voice shaking with honest fear and I squeezed her tightly.

"You will get through this Liv. I promise. Now let's set this place up, we've got a celebratory bonfire to get ready for!" Alaina clapped her hands together whike jumping up and down.

"Zach, can you and Mason hang this banner for me?" Alaina asked her mate in the sweetest voice she could muster.

"Sure babe, where at?" Zach grabbed the banner from her hand and pecked her on the cheek and waited for instructions.

"Across this wall right here and when you are done we have a few more decorations that need to be hung up as well." She pointed to where she wanted it and left the guys to hang it up.

"Aye aye captain!" Mason saluted sarcastically earning him a slap on the back of the head from Lisa. She had that boy whipped no doubt.

"Your father has started the grill, would you girls like to help me in the kitchen?" My mom asked in a voice that clearly meant we had no say so in the matter.

"Yes mam!"

"Of course we would!"

"Chop chop! Let's get busy we have a hundreds of people to feed in a short amount of time." My mom clapped her hands quickly and rushed us into the kicthen.

"Lisa you're in charge of washing, peeling, and dicing the potatoes. Alaina you're in charge of the macaroni. Stormy you're in charge of making all the dips and salsas. Misty you're in charge of putting together the salad. Olivia you're the birthday girl so you just sit there and look pretty darling." My mom kindly gave orders and we all jumped on it.

"Is there going to be cake?!" Olivia asked after a few minutes of silence.

"Of course, your parents are picking it up on their way over." My mom answered with a knowing smile, we all knew Olivia was a sucker for birthday cake and would go back for seconds and even thirds if no one stopped her.

We put chips in bowls and lined them up on the table along with the dips and salsas. Lisa finished up the potato salad and put it on the table beside Alainas macaroni. Scents from all the food filled the air were mouth watering.

All of a sudden my senses went haywire and my heart rate spiked through the roof and my wolf was pacing restlessly scratching to come out.

"What smells so good? I'm starving." His voice filled the now silent room. Daniel. I would know that voice anywhere.

"Oh Daniel! You're alright!" Misty gushed as she carefully wrapped her boney arms around his neck and placed kisses all over his face which he seemed less than thrilled about. He returned her hug half way as his eyes searched the room until they locked on mine sucking the very breath from my lungs.

"Yes I'm fine. I always am." He pulled her arms from around his neck and gently dropped them by her side comfusing the hell out of her. She gave him a weird questioning look but quickly brushed it off.

"Dinner is almost finished and then afterwards we are having a celebratory bonfire for Olivias birthday and for all of my favorite guys making it back in one piece." My mom smiled and gave Daniel a quick peck on the cheek.

"I'm going to go get cleaned up then. Excuse me. Stormy can I talk to you?" Daniel asked in the softest voice I've ever heard him use and I didn't know if I should be worried or not.

"Yeah of course." I answered and he started walking out of the room and I slowly followed him. Misty gave me a 'what the fuck' look and I just shrugged when I walked past her.

Daniel walked upstairs and into my room and when I was about to ask him why we were in my room he pulled me in and closed the door.

"Daniel what in the hell-?" I gasped and he just pulled me closer into his chest in a bone crushing hug. He dipped his face in the crook of my neck inhaling my scent. After moments of just standing there he finally spoke.

"Stormy do you have any idea what I went through out there? It was a fucking bloodbath." Daniel released my body from his grasp and suddenly my body felt cold where his body just was.

"Based on the condition you and the other guys came back in, I'm guessing it was worse than you expected." I answered calmly as I made my way to my bed and sat on down on the foot of it. Daniel paced back and forth around my room so fast I'm surprised he didn't wear a damn rut in the carpet.

"Way worse and you know what the worst part of it was?" He asked stopping in his tracks right in front if me.

"What?" I asked curiously as I twiddled with my fingers nervously.

"That I was so worried about you the entire time." His eyes turned into slits, the look he gave him sent shivers down my spine.

"Daniel I've been here the entire time. I'm safe here."

"But I wasn't here to see it for myself! I couldn't think straight because I had no way of communicating with you. Before I left we had a moment and you got under my skin. This is why I didn't want a mate!" He ran his hands through his hair in frustration.

"You think this is how I wanted this shit to go?" I pushed myself off the bed and was chest to chest with him, anger swimming throughout my body.

"I was supposed to be with Misty, she was going to take over for yalls father and we were going to join packs. We had a plan, a simple plan but now I can't even stand to look at her or be touched by her because she's not you." His chest was rising and falling and his eyes kept changing from their normal deep blue color to black, his wolf fighting below the surface to come out.

"If you think I asked for this you are sadly mistaken. You think I wanted my sisters boyfriend to be my mate? If you are that unhappy about me being your mate why don't you just reject me?!" I yelled and jabbed my fingers into his chest. Realizing I yelled that he was my mate made me glad that the rooms in our house were soundproof. My heart broke at the thought of Daniel rejecting me but if he wasn't happy with me then I could mend my broken heart.

Daniel backed me against the wall and put his hands on either sides of my face and moved his face closer to mine and my breath hitched in my throat.

"Reject you? NEVER. So I'll make a new plan, one that includes you because you're stuck with me kitten." He smirked knowing how much I hated being called that.

"Ugh don't call me that!" I groaned and put a few inches of room between us.

"I'm serious about what I said, I'm going to make this right Stormy. Just give me a little time to figure out how." He sighed loudly as he started to rub his temples.

"Okay." I offered him a small smile not really sure what else to say. I wanted to belive him and my wolf was already purring in annoying utter satisfaction but at the same time I wasn't sure I could. What worried me most was how in the hell was Misty going to take all of this?
