"My name is Stormy Stephens, I have a twin sister Misty, which you already know. I'm a senior in high school, I work at an animal shelter, there's not much to tell." I shrugged and looked away from his intense gaze. his green eyes pierced into me like needles in a vein.

"So why were you in the woods at night  alone?" He asked as he sat down at his desk and motioned for me to sit across from him.

"Because my home no longer feels like home." I told him seriously.

"I see, so what did you mean when you said your mate wants your sister?" He asked, his eyes turned a dark black color with anger.

"My mate is my sister's boyfriend..." Liam let out a chest deep growl and gripped the sides of his desk until his knuckles turned white before he regained his composure.

"Look I know this is hard to hear, belive me it's hard to even say it out loud but can you please control your wolf before I piss in my seat?" I asked him and all anger left his eyes as he let out a genuine laugh.

"I apologize, not being with her is putting my wolf on edge." He explained softly and my heart ached for him.

"So when did you meet my sister? She's never mentioned you before." I asked him curiously. Not that she would tell me she met her mate anyways.

"I met her about four months ago. We met at a pack party I held for my betas birthday." He answered with a sad smile on his chiseled face.

"What happened with you two?" I asked in a soft voice. Whatever happened must have been bad for him to look this upset about it.

"I was giving my speech and her scent filled the room so floral and sweet so after my speech I followed her, being that she hadn't shifted she couldn't really know for sure that I was her mate. She just felt a pull towards me and had no idea why, but I knew without a doubt that she was mine. Anyways I followed her out to the pond at the back of my property and she asked me why I was following her and why she felt a pull towards me. So I told her we were mates and she started crying and saying 'this can't happen' and 'it's not supposed to be this way'.  She was hysterical and I didn't know what to do so I wrapped my arms around her until she calmed down." He started to explain, sadness filled his eyes.

"And then what happened?" I asked softly.

"She told me if I ever tried to find her or contact her that she would reject me.  So I have left her alone." Tears pooled in his eyes and my heart shattered for him.

"I'm sorry." I whispered in disbelief. I couldn't believe that my own sister was so heartless. To threaten to reject her mate, that's the lowest of the lowes. Rejecting your mate is a big deal. There's a rejection ceremony that can only be held on a full moon night and you have to say your chant when the moon hits it's peak and the bond between you two is broken forever. From what I hear it can cause your wolf to go into a deep depression where they never wake up, like I said it's a big deal.

"Don't be, it's not your fault." He told me with a sad smile.

"My sister is awful, I can't believe she would do that to her mate." I said venomously. Granted I didn't even know the guy sitting across from me but he seemed like a decent guy so far. He didn't deserve that.

"Tell me about your mate." He changed the subject over to me and even though I didn't want to talk about it he had just shared his with me.

"He's an asshole." Liam let out a hearty chuckle and I couldn't hide the smile that spread across my face I wanted to.

"He's my sisters boyfriend. They've been together for a while. Even though I couldn't stand him before today, I'm his mate. I shifted for the first time a few hours ago. You know what the hardest part about shifting is? Watching your mate comfort your sister through the shifting process while you lie there deciding what hurts most your bones snapping or your heart shattering." I cried an actual sob.

"I am so sorry Storm you don't deserve that." He sincerely offered with a soft smile.

"Fuck them, they deserve each other." I shrugged non chalantly. Even though it hurts like hell right now I'll get through this.

"You can stay here if you want. I have a few empty rooms. No one will mess with you. You'll be safe here. Think of it as a peaceful mate free place?" He offered and I smiled gratefully.

"That would be great, thank you. I will pull my weight around here I don't want a free ride." I thanked him, happy to have somewhere to stay instead of sleeping in the woods.

"Very well if you insist but you are not a prisoner here. My house is your house. No strings attached, no catches." He told me seriously.

"Thank you Liam." I smiled. Even though I barely knew this guy I knew he was being geniunly serious.

"You're welcome Storm. Let's go pick you a room and get you settled in."

We left his office and walked up three flights of stairs. There was a long hallway of rooms and we stopped in front of one of the doors towards the end of the hall.

"Here we are. It's fully furnished, it has its own bathroom with toiletries. If you need anything just let me know and I will make it happen. I'm right up the stairs on the fourth floor. It's the only room up there, you know where to find me. Get some rest Storm."

"Thank you so much!" I thanked him and wrapped my arms around him. He stiffened under my grasp before he loosened up and returned the hug.

"Goodnight Storm." He flashed me his signature brilliant smile and turned to leave.

"Goodnight Lee." I smiled back giving him a nickname from me. With that he left me alone and I went into the room. My duffle bag was sitting on the bed, he must have mindlinked someone to bring it here when we were talking in his office.

I plopped down on the bed and pulled my cell phone from my bag. There were several missed calls and text messages all from my parents and friends. I decided to call my mom to let her know I was okay.

"Sweetheart! Oh my goodness are you okay? Where you at? What happened tonight? Why did you leave?" My mom gushed as soon as she answered the phone.

"Mom I'm fine. I don't want to talk about any of that tonight. I just wanted you to know I'm okay. I think I made a new friend and he offered me a room here. I think I'm going to stay here for a while." I told her knowing she was going to freak out.

"Stay there? You can't stay there! Stormy Renee what are you thinking? You don't even know this guy! Just please come home and we will fix whatever is wrong." My mom begged worry filled in her voice.

"Mom don't worry, I'm okay I promise. I just can't come home, not yet. I will come home and talk soon but when I am ready. I need to figure everything out first. I will call you everyday I promise." I reassured her and she reluctantly agreed.

"Dad and I love you babygirl. Call me everyday. Oh I don't like this one bit but if you tell me this is what you want, I'll just have to trust you." She sighed giving up on trying to convince me to come home.

"I love you both, thank you mom. This is what I need." I hung up the phone and laid back on the bed realizing how tired I was. It had been such a long tiring day and I just so badly wanted to forget it all happened, I let sleep take over my body and passed out.
