Nicholas closed the living room drapes, blocking out most of the late afternoon light, and turned the lamps down low. He lit the gas fireplace and turned on some soft music.

"Maybe you know what you're doing, after all." Dean smiled and raised the glass to his lips.

"I may have picked up a couple things from Amanda." Nicholas came closer but paused his advance a foot or two away, a nervousness in him as he twisted the wine glass in his fingers and shifted his eyes to the low-burning flame in the fireplace.

"You two...you had some romantic evenings, did you?" Dean smiled, unable to feel too jealous of the woman who had played a huge part in helping him and Nicholas reconnect.

"We made the attempt." Nicholas raised his eyes. "They were enjoyable times, and remain fond memories, but..." He placed his glass on the mantle and closed the minimal space between them. He flattened his hands on Dean's chest and slid his arms up around his neck. "It didn't come close to feeling like this."

Dean set his wine glass next to Nicholas' and rested his hands on the young man's waist. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't glad about that." He kissed him. "Am I selfish to want your love and affection all for myself?"

"If you are," Nicholas whispered. "Then so am I." He leaned into another kiss, pressing closer.

How was Dean supposed to maintain? He'd loved Nicholas with every beat of his heart for so long; he didn't know how to regulate his emotions now that the young man was in his arms, returning his love heartbeat for heartbeat.

He wrapped his arms around Nicholas and pulled him in tighter. The kiss consumed them and though Dean remained firm on his feet...he felt himself falling...deeper and deeper into this beautiful, passionate man.

Soft moans welled up in them both. Dean's heart beat wildly and the line between right and wrong began to blur as warmth seeped into all his extremities. His hands found their way beneath Nicholas' jacket, his palms pressing flat and firm against the young man's back, the heat of his skin warming Dean's hands through the fabric of his dress shirt.

Oh, Lord...I'm losing this battle...

In all honesty—how hard had he been fighting in the first place?

Nicholas pulled him back from that tempting abyss at the last minute when he gently broke from the kiss and pressed his lips to Dean's shoulder. Without speaking, they began to sway to the soft music and Dean held him tighter, his mouth against his hair. A sweet, tantalizing mix of cologne and shampoo kindled Dean's senses.
