Logan strode toward the sliding glass door. He suddenly halted and stood stiff. He looked at me. "Do you hear that?"
I pricked my ears and heard the screeching of wheels on the ground. I gasped and darted into the secure house, my fur bristling. "We have to go now," Logan told the ground urgently as he darted toward the entrance of the house, shooting out his claws from his knuckles.
"Poultice stand by me," I ordered and I saw the pup's eyes dart around madly.
"What's happening," he yelped as he darted toward me and weaved himself between my legs. He looked up at me with unblinking eyes. I strode toward the entrance of the house and pushed myself out with Rouge, Bobby, and John following.
"Police! Freeze!"
I cringed as I saw the police with their guns erect and pointed toward our heads. Logan took a step forward, ready to protect us. I lowered down a bit so that no one could see Poultice cowering under my stomach. I growled a bit as I saw animal control a few paces ahead of me. Their catch poles were thrust forward and I saw others with tranquilizer darts.
"Drop the knives," a police officer ordered as the gun quivered in his hand.
Logan bit his lip and looked down to me. I just shrugged, knowing that there was nothing I could do to help him. He lifted his lands a bit.
"Drop the knives," the police officer repeated as the rest of the officers pointed their guns to Logan's head.
"I can't," Logan growled as he lifted his hand to show the police officer.
Suddenly the police officer shot Logan straight in the head. He grumbled to the ground, his eyes closed. I yelped in shock and the police officers closed in.
"Rest of you on the ground," they commanded.
Bobby and Rouge obeyed. I growled a bit but sat before I laid with Poultice still pushed underneath me. I would do anything to protect him. I suddenly looked up and I saw that John wasn't lowering down like the police told us to.
"John, what are you doing," I snarled in rage.
"We don't want to hurt you kid," called a cop, a female with blonde hair.
John looked at his lighter and I shook my head. "Do you know all of those dangerous mutants you hear on the news," he asked as he created a fireball. "I'm the most dangerous one." He shot fire at the closest officer and sent him flying. He then sent fire balls to the female, officers in the house, and even at the cars.
More cops arrived but were quickly slowed. He threw fire at them and it blazed the car. "John stop," I commanded. It was one thing to defend but another to kill for fun. He wasn't listening to me thought and the humans screamed in terror. I knew that if he didn't stop he would burn them alive.
Rouge suddenly took off her glove and grasped John's leg. He gasped and Rouge took back the fire. John struggled to breath and he crouched over, barely remaining conscious.
I suddenly noticed that the bullet had popped from Logan's head. He healed in a heartbeat and his eyes darted open with a sudden new energy. He didn't wake up to a pleasant sight.
I heard a harsh wind sound and saw the jet that Jean and Storm drove was landing. We all straightened and Logan tilted his head a bit. A man looked like he wanted to shot Logan but thought better of it and we darted forward. I brought up the rear with Poultice still pressed between my legs. We burst into the jet, hoping our troubles were over. Well I was dead wrong.
