I lowered down, my wings plastered against my side. I took in a rattled breath and looked to the rest of the group who looked stunned at what had just happened. "We're okay," I assured as my tail flicked.
"Who saved us," asked Kurt as he lifted his head from Rouge.
I lashed my tail and Logan didn't need to ask to know who had saved us. "Why would they save us?"
"I don't know," I confessed as I extended my oversized claws. "However I am prepared to find out."
"Wait," called Storm as she stood up and spun around. "Let's not confront them about this. They did save us. They obviously saved us for a reason so they must want something."
"You're saying that we ask them what they want," asked Logan as he stood up, frustrated about being in the jet.
"That's exactly what I'm saying," Storm replied to Logan calmly and evenly as if daring him to argue.
I shook my head, growling. I knew better than to argue with Storm but my fur was bristling. I looked over to Kurt as he lifted himself from Rouge and Poultice. He sat back and Poultice rushed to me. He whimpered and shoved his head into my shoulder.
"It's okay. It's alright. I'm here," I murmured into his ear to try and calm him down. He was hysterical and shaking madly.
Logan lowered beside me and stretched out a hand and stroked Poultice between the ears. "It's alright," he chided to Poultice. Logan then turned his head and saw Bobby help Rouge.
"I don't understand," sniffed Poultice as he looked up at me with dark and hollow eyes. It made my heart ache to look at him and I licked him between the ears. "Why did those people want to shot us down?"
"I don't know," I confessed as I pushed myself to my paws. I arched my back. "I suppose it's time to talk to our 'rescuers'."
"Don't have that attitude with them," Storm scolded sternly. "Or they will regret helping us."
I snorted and sunk my teeth into Poultice's scruff and carried him forward since he was still shaken up. I followed Logan out of the jet. Anger pulsed from me but I was trying to cover it up since Storm wanted me to watch my attitude.
Jean followed me along with Bobby and Rouge. John brought up the rear since Storm had been first. "Long time no see," Erik told us as he stretched out a hand, ready to shake ourhands.
I snarled and looked at my father. "What are you doing here," I asked my father as I puffed out my fur but I tried to slick my fur down. It wasn't working.
"I'll take that as a thank you," rumbled Tony as he stalked forward. He looked at Poultice who was hanging from my mouth. "Is he alright?"
I growled and set Poultice down between my paws. I leaned over Poultice to guard him from my father. "He has had a rouge day," I pointed out as I bared my teeth in a snarl. "He's been shot at, thrown out of a plane, and nearly killed numerous times!"
Tony took a step back and shoved his ears forward. "I'm sorry to hear that from a pup who saved my life."
I sighed and slicked my fur against my side. I was trying my best not to leap for my father's throat. I drew back and licked Poultice's ear. "It's okay," I assured as I led him forward. He staggered a bit as I led him up to Erik, Storm, Jean, and Logan.
"Why did you save us," asked Storm as she glared at Erik and Mystique.
"We have something we have to talk about," Erik murmured as he turned his hand and turned the jet.
I really didn't want to talk about it but I would humor Erik and Tony. "Fine but let's at least make camp first."
