Scott POV
"Please, Dad? Can we please see Claudia today? Pleeeeease?" I hear my son whine in the back seat of my car.
"You really want to show up there without warning? No, Jason, we can't do that." I reply, shaking my head a little as I continue to drive back home from Jason's elementary school.
"Aww, come on, Dad. Don't be a party pooper." Jason complains and without even looking at him, I can tell that he's pouting. That is definitely a trait that he gets from his mother. I can't help but chuckle in amusement. Jason is making a really big deal out of this. "You can see Claudia on the weekend. Or tomorrow at school. It's not like she will be going anywhere before then." I inform my son with a little laugh.
"But, Dad!" Jason continues to complain as I stare at the road in front of me.
"Nope. We can't just arrive unannounced, Jason. Besides, Claudia might be busy tonight anyway." I try to reason with my six-year-old son. In the rear view mirror, I can see him starting to smirk. I frown worriedly, wondering what he's up to. "But you'll get to see Stiles too. I know you two are good friends. Why can't we see our friends together?" Jason argues with me, a proud smile on my face. I feel my cheeks heat up in a blush and I don't really know what to say to Jason's comment, my heart starts speeding up nervously though.
"I-I don't know, Jason. As I said, they could be busy." I stutter slightly.
"Why don't we go check then? Let's see if they are doing something. Maybe we can do it together!" Jason exclaims excitedly. I let out a heavy sigh, but continue driving towards home, but I am feeling a little hesitant now. "I think Stiles is cool, Dad. I like him. I want him to be around more." Jason speaks up after a few moments of silence. I look at Jason in the rear view mirror with surprise. "You do?" I ask him curiously.
"Yeah. He's so relaxed, funny and chilled, unlike every other grown up I know. They're all stupid and boring, but Stiles isn't." Jason answers, and I can tell that he is being genuine. Sure, he might still be trying to convince me to take him to see Claudia, but I can also tell when he is serious and means something. I can't help but smile happily, thankful that Jason really seems to like Stiles. "Yeah, he's a pretty cool guy. Some of that must have been passed down into Claudia." I chuckle.
"Yeah!" Jason replies in agreement.
"Do you really want to go to Claudia's house right now?" I ask my son, my defence starting to crumble and disappear.
"Of course!" Jason basically shouts very eagerly. I wince slightly at the loud sound in the car.
"Don't shout in the car, Jason. I can hear you perfectly fine with your inside voice." I remind my young son.
"Whoops. Sorry." Jason apologizes bashfully.
"Can we though, Dad? Can we? Can we?" Jason continues to ask excitedly. I sigh again, shaking my head a little.
"You're not going to give up, are you?" I ask with the hint of a smile on my face.
"Nope." Jason giggles in response. I chuckle lightly and roll my eyes at his answer, but I eventually give in. It would be a nice chance to see Stiles again. Besides, I know how annoying it is to be split up from your best friend. "Fine. I'll take you to Claudia's house, but we won't be staying long, okay?" I announce firmly, making sure that Jason knows the rules. "Okay! Yay!" Jason cheers in excitement and happiness. I smile a little at his eagerness and soon change directions and drive towards Stiles' house instead of my own.
