Scott POV
The next day, after Stiles has gone to work and I've taken Claudia and Jason over to Kira's so she can look after them on this Saturday afternoon, I head around to the Sheriff's house, hoping that he's home. Thankfully, he is, judging from his car in the drive way. It makes me nervous though, considering I don't have any excuse to chicken out now. I gulp nervously as I knock on the front door. It doesn't take long for Noah to answer the door with a friendly smile on his face. I see that he's in his work uniform, meaning that he either just got back from work or is about to go to work.
"Ah, Scott. I didn't expect to see you today. I got back from work about 10 minutes ago." The Sheriff greets me politely, answering my silent question. Noah then stands to the side, gesturing towards the hallway behind him.
"Please, come in." Noah tells me. I nod a little, probably looking slightly stiff, but I walk through the entrance anyway, Noah shutting the door behind us. As Noah walks in front of me and starts leading me to the living room, I fidget with my hands nervously, not sure how I want to go about this. Before I know it, I'm sitting down on the sofa, with Noah sitting on the opposite one, gazing back at me curiously.
"Do you want a drink or anything, Scott?" Noah asks politely. I wouldn't mind a beer right now, to maybe help calm my nerves and make me feel more confident.
"Uh, no thanks. I think I'm good, but thanks for asking, Mr Stilinski." I answer with a friendly smile, still fidgeting with my hands nervously, one of my legs bouncing up and down rapidly due to my increasing anxiety around this situation. My heart rate is starting to go up too. I notice Noah's face fill with concern and he frowns at me.
"Are you alright, Scott? You seem nervous. What can I help you with?" The Sheriff asks me curiously in a kind voice, helping me to try and relax. It only works a tiny bit.
"Uh... Well, it's about your son." I begin nervously, my mouth feeling dry. I clench my hands tightly together, giving me something else to focus on instead of the Sheriff's stare on me, feeling like it is burning right through my soul, like he knows what I want to ask.
"Oh? What about him? Is Stiles okay?" Noah asks worriedly, frowning a little.
"Yeah, yeah, he's fine. He couldn't be better, actually. Everything is great. We are really happy." I stammer as I smile reassuringly at Noah. He raises an eyebrow at me, starting to suspect that something is up.
"Then what's going on, Scott?" Noah asks, leaning back on the couch a little. I try to swallow down my nerves before answering.
"Well, um... Well, it's about our happiness, actually. As I said, everything is great. We've been together for a long time now and things couldn't be better between us. You know, we have the occasional argument like all couples do, but we get over them just like that. I love him very much, Mr Stilinski. I really do. Claudia and Jason are super close too. They barely fight either, which is great." I begin to explain to the Sheriff. Yeah, my mouth is definitely way too dry. Did it suddenly get hot in here? Did the heater automatically come on or something? I scratch the back of my neck nervously, shifting uncomfortably on the couch. I can suddenly feel every crease and texture of this couch and I don't like it. It's too itchy and I can't sit still now.
"Okay, so what are you saying?" The Sheriff asks me, frowning a little.
"Um... I guess what I was wanting to know is that... Um... If it's okay with you, of course... That maybe I could, uh..." I stammer, unable to finish the sentence, the words getting caught in my throat. My nerves are skyrocketing and I swear even Noah would be able to hear my loud heartbeat.
