Miss you

Mason's POV

"Mason....Mason" my name is being called I shoot up blinking. I rub my eyes. I fell asleep on the chair leaning my head on the bed and holding Maddie's hand. Lila is standing there. I stayed up most of the night hoping she'd wake up soon but nothing.

"Sorry" I muttered.

"It's alright" she shrugs. "How is she?" She asked.

"Good I guess, still no sign of her waking up" I reply she nods.

"Did you go home last night?" I asked she nods.

"Yeah" she said.

"Where's Nathan?" I asked.

"He fell asleep in the waiting room" she tells me I nod. I look at Maddie she's still laying there silently. I grab her hand again.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Uh, its 7:15 are you going to school?" She asked me I shake my head.

"Not today" I tell her she nods.

"Ok, well I'll see you later...I anyways need to tell Ryan" she says and I nod and she leaves.

"Come on Mads" I say lightly. The door opens again I turn and Allison walks in.

"Oh hey" she said she looks tired, worried, sad and like she's been crying. I get up.

"Here sit" I said. "Do you wanna be alone with her?" I asked.

"Yeah, just for a little thanks" she says and I nod. Lila brought flowers. I leave the room and go to the waiting room. Nathan is asleep in one of the chairs. I sit down next to him and like he noticed his eyes shoot open and he sits upright.

"How is she?" He asked.

"She's still in coma, your moms in there right now though" I tell him he nods.

"I hope she's okay" he says.

"She will be, its Maddie" I tell him he stifles a laugh.

"I'm sorry for being a dick and punching you because I was a little mad over what I heard, I know you guys like each other a lot but it's just still new to me" he looks at his hands.

"It's ok, it's like nothing has happened anyways" I shrug. "It also makes sense."

"I know but Maddie told me how she felt about you and I guess I was just kinda a dick about it, I know you're my best friend I just want the best for her" he says.

"Yeah I know it makes sense" I nodded. We sit in silence for a little.

"I can't believe this happened" he shakes his head. "I don't understand,

how hard did he hit her?" He asked.

"It was a jacked up trunk and for a school area he was going fast" I said.

"I'm so fucking angry at the douche" he sighs. You wouldn't understand how badly I would kill him.

Allison comes out looking even more sad.

"I'm gonna go home and lay down, keep an eye on her" she says and we both nod and she leaves.

"I'm gonna go check up on her" Nathan says and I nod. He gets up and leaves. I sit there waiting. That's what you're supposed to do in a waiting room so that's what I do.

Why did this have to happen the Maddie who has done nothing. For no reason. Why not me. Why is it always the girl I'm close with. I'm a ducking curse I swear to god. I run my hands throw my hair and over my face. I've only got 3 and a half hours of sleep. I need a coffee. I get up and text Nathan that I'm going to get coffee and go down to the cafeteria area.

I grab 2 coffees one for me and one for Nathan as well. After that u start heading back.

"Nathan" I hear a high pitched voice and turn there is Georgie. What?

"What?" I asked.

"I heard that Maddie is here? What happened?" She asked.

"Like you care" I muttered.

"I do, like I know we are good friends or anything but still I don't think it's good that she's in the hospital" she says.

"She got hit by a car" I said.

"You look exhausted have you even been home?" She asks me.

"Why does it matter?" I asked. "You're asking way too many questions."

I start walking again but she catches up.

"Just wait" she said. "I'm sorry that, that has happened" she tells me.

"Why are you here anyways?" I asked back.

"Oh, my aunt had a heart attack so I came by, I'm heading to school now, are you gonna go?" She asked.

"No, obviously not" i say. It's weird how she's actually being decent. "Sorry about your aunt."

I then walked away. I go back to the ICU floor. I head to her room and Nathan is just sitting there.

"Here" I said and pass him his coffee. He thanks me.

"I'm gonna be out there" he tells me and I nod and he leaves. I sit down and look at Maddie.

"Georgie was down at the cafeteria I was confused...but apparently her aunt had a heart attack or something. She said sorry for this which I was again confused" I said. "You probably can't even here me, what am I doing with life" I sigh. I set my coffee down and take her hand. "Can you just wake up, nothing's the same without you" I mutter. I sit there not doing anything.
"When will you wake up" I groan laying my head down. Come on Maddie you have to wake up soon.

I fell asleep again next to her but woke up only 30 minutes later because I swear I felt her hand move but maybe I was just over exaggerating. I sit in her room going through my phone when a whole bunch of messages pop up. I see it's a text from Ryan.

-what's with Maddie
-is she okay??
-is she still in a coma!?
-any signs or anything?

I reply to him saying that she's still in a coma and stuff. Why is he acting like he knows nothing when Lila probably told him everything.

The door opens and Nathan comes back with a sandwich.

"So are we just not gonna go to school?" He asked and takes a seat next to me I shrug.

"It's only the first day we've missed since this" I said.

"Yeah" he looks at Maddie. "I guess we haven't skipped in a while either, remember when we did that so much" he says with a grin.

"Yeah obviously it's not like it was that long ago...what even happened?" I asked.

"I don't know, I guess we grew up" he laughs.

"Yeah sure" I laugh also. I look back at Maddie she's just laying there silent. Which is weird for her, it's like it's no comfortable. I sigh.

"You think she'll remember everything right?" I asked.

"Yeah, I doubt that it was that bad that he fricken made her loose memory, do you even know the guy because I still want to kill him" he said.

"Don't know him but I saw his face" I said. "I'm just confused he was in a school parking lot why would you even be going fast at all?"

"It makes no sense" he shrugs eating his sandwich.

The rest of the day we sat there watching her hopefully thinking maybe, just maybe she will wake up then. But she never did that night which was so not satisfying and the most unbearable thing ever. I just want her awake.
