Liam rubbed his eyes roughly, basically jumping off the bed as he rushed to put his clothes on.They were in Niall's room, the familiar scent of pine tree candle and smelly clothes filled the room, taking Liam back to when he was 17 and still trying to figure out his feelings for the blonde.Just as he was pushing his shoes on, Niall stirred awake, looking at Liam with anger.
"Did we just?"He asked , traces of anger laced in his voice.
"I think so."Liam said quietly, trying to find his keys and wallet.
"I-I"
"Let's just not talk about this, yeah ?" Liam presented, "let's just forget this ever happened, we said we needed to forget each other let's start now."
"Um, yeah."Niall said dumbfounded.
Liam nodded not being able to find his keys,deciding that maybe they were at last nights party."I'm going back to find my keys, good bye, Niall."
"Wait I can help you...?"Niall scratched his head, getting up,"I'll drop you off , no need to do the extra huh?"He awkwardly laughed.Liam nodded, saying a small 'thank you' before going outside of his room to wait for him to get dressed.
The ride there was extremely awkward,Niall sang under his breath while turning up the volume incredibly loud.Liam scrolled up and down his Instagram feed as he didn't know how to get into a conversation with him.
"Thanks for the ride, Niall."Liam said, closing the door behind him, closing his eyes as he heard the car zoom away.Its really over, really over.
Just around the corner, Niall parked his car, leaning his head on his steering wheel, thinking the same thing.How could this cheater still make me feel so many butterflies ?

Two months passed after that moment, that memory still crossed Liam's mind multiple times a day.The next time he saw Niall was on the city train, Liam scrunched up his brows, walking up to him.
"Niall?"Liam nervously smiled, shoving his hands into his coat pocket.
Niall pulled out his earbud and closed his book, grinned awkwardly,"Hey Liam."
"Well" Liam moved his arms,"How'd you been? What you've been up to?I haven't seen you after our class together ended ."
"I've been good, um I got an intern job in the states under a owner of a big corporation.Im leaving in about two weeks."Niall said, repositioning his hands as he awkwardly stood there.
Liam's heart sunk, knowing that this was a sign from God or the weird tech guys that created the universe as a life simulation.At this point, Liam didn't care, all he knew is that he didn't want Niall to leave him, he wanted to make it up to Niall is whatever way he could, if he could even get a chance to make it better, he had to try now.
The brunet stayed silent, staring into Niall's facial features like a complete weirdo.It made him uncomfortable, he shifted his weight from leg to leg."Um Liam?"As they reached the next stop, Liam grabbed Niall's jacket cuffs strongly."Um this isn't my stop, what are you doing?"
Liam pushed them away from the rest of the crowd,"Niall, please don't go."
The blonde scoffed,"For what? I'm gonna do much better over there maybe even meet a guy that won't treat me like shit."
"I love you Niall, I always have and honestly I think that I will always.These two months I've been thinking that I could maybe find other 'Niall's' that maybe I could have a chance of love with someone that I haven't hurt before but Niall you're the only person I want to be with.Youre the only one I'll ever love, you made me the best version of myself when I was with you and I'm so sorry I fucked up in endless ways.Im sorry I hurt you, I'm sorry I betrayed our love and I'm sorry that I didn't stay faithful to you."As his speech progressed, Liam grabbed Niall more tightly, wanting to emphasize his point.
"Liam..."Niall said softly,"I just can't... I'm trying to grow, I don't want to be the boy who followed you around all senior year.i want to be something."
"You can be something with me, Niall.Please."
"I just need space, Liam.Im gonna leave and I don't want you to wait for me.I don't want to come back and see you still hung up on me.We both need to be away from each other and I'm the one that'll gladly be the one to put space between us,"Niall pulled his hands roughly away from him,"Good bye Liam."
Niall's shadow fade into the dark night sky and that would have been the last time Liam saw his love.
For a few years anyways...
