A Thousand Miles

The Start

                 Another grayish morning; I woke up early and instead heading for the shower, I headed for the phone. I hate to dial this number at such early hours, but the only person that can pull the four us out on this situation is right on the next line. I dial the number, hit the call send button and the ringing start.

               Ten minutes and I wait patiently, when I heard someone lift the phone.

             “Yes?” Ang tanong ng husky voice on the other line.

             “I know this is early, kaso I need your help.” I try to sound steady.

            “What is it do you want?” Ang firm voice ng lalaki sa kabilang linya.

          I try to search for the right reason to make my lies concrete and flat. I got to be careful, this is the only man that has the power to turn the situation upside down, and the only man that I fear, no other than my dad.

           “I want you to let our class group travel to Light Community.”

           “Why? Anon a namang pumasok sa isip mo Leon? Is this another hormone hitting?” My dad’s voice started to raise up.

           “Wait dad, don’t be so mad, hear me out first.” I tried to sound firm and calm.

           “This is better be good Leon.” He told me. “Talk, I’m listening.”

          “I was thinking that we can serve as a search party. This past few days I’m hearing news, not from the staff or from the community, but from the ghost that random past our community. Balita na may mga seer from that community. I was just wondering kung totoo ang balita.” I tried to sound flat.

          “Leon you know we can send a search party over there!” He said with the  It’s a matter of fact tone.

         “Yes, that cross into my mind. Pero dad you know that our kind is the most rare kind of Infinitus. The only person that can identify the aura that this Infinitus posses is the person on our same kind, in our case, me and my group. This is a chance to save the Infinitus if ever na totoo ang balita. I just wanted to help you know. I’m growing up, eventually I will take over the school.” I tried to sound like a sincere person.

          No sound… 

          *Please say yes!* My mind is shouting.

         “Okay Leon, I think you are right. I will call the school to inform your  request. Where will you start?” 

         “The most accurate place will be the Light Academy. There is a chance na students at our same age possesses the Infinitus.”

         “Light Academy, that is a regular school. Are you sure you can handle socializing with the normal students without exposing your hidden secret?” He asked with those worried tone.

         “We are the ace of the school. My group are professional. This is just a cheap time game. Trust me, we are more than ready!” Smile spread across my face.

         “Be careful and watch your back always. When will you start?” He asked with a sudden change in tone.

          “Today!” I said firmly.

         “Okay!” The only reply I get.

         “And dad… Thank you!” I said and I hit the end button.

       As I put the phone on my desk I saw her, looking at me.

        “Plan to get out, mission accomplish!” I said to her and I headed for the shower.
