A Thousand Miles

The Road

       I know that we only got a hudred days to solve the mystery. I was just glad na may loyal group ako na handing tumulong sa akin. Fate and luck must be on our side, kasi as the days go by the clues are starting to show that lead us on.

        It’s been two weeks nang matagpuan ang bff note na iyon. Lyka seems to feel the change of the wind. She was more curious to find out kung papaano kokonek ang letter na iyon sa death niya.

         Thirty days plus fourteen, it’s been fourty four days. Brook started to follow Shanel, Atina and Grace started their investigation about Lyka’s background, and my eyes were all fix to Romeo. I don’t know why but he seems to be more odd as the time passes by.

   It was the fourty seventh day when I summon a little courage to ask Lyka about the guy.

      “So may memories ka ba about your late boyfriend?” Ang tanong ko sa kanya one afternoon sa rowan tree sa gitna ng greenhouse.

   The greenhouse became our hide out. The rowan tree is where the four of us meet each other to pass out informations that we eventually found.

       “Bakit? Huwag mog sabihin na suspect narin si Romeo.” Ang galit niyang sagot.

         “Of course not. Curious lang ako, well you know, you told us na boyfriend mo siya diba, so I wan’t to know kung anong klaseng boyfriend siya sa iyo. You know if he was the type na knight on shining armour dapat buhay kapa don’t you think?.” Ang mahinahon kong tanong.

         “Really all I can remember is those happy memories with him. He’s nice, very gentlemen, and he was my other best friend.” Ang malungkot niyang tugon.

         “When and where do you met him?” I intent to push more information.

          “I met him during the first semester of highschool. He was a transfer from another academy. He’s very friendly, and I fell for him the first sight. When he courted me, all I can do Is say yes! He’s my prince, and I love him so much, that it pain me knowing nothing about how I die. I hate leaving him like this.” She said with those teary eyes. “Ikaw Leon do ever been in love?” 

          “Hindi pa.” Ang sagot ko sa kanya.

          “Why? Wala pa ba ang right girl?” Ang nakangiti niyang tanong.

          “I don’t know how to love someone. Huwag kang mag-alala kapag nainlove ako ikaw ang unang makakaalam.” I said to her.

          “I’ll be waiting!” She said to me then shot me with her dazzling smile.

         My heart went wild…

         Ano ito? 

         Bakit biglang bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko?

       I was about to ask her something when I heard the door of the greenhouse open up. Someone went in, but I know na hindi sina Brook iyon. It was a different persons, and judging by the sound of the footsteps it was a girl and a boy.

       I decided to hide on the other end of the greenhouse where I can see clearly while the huge leaf of a plant conceal me.

       After a minute or so I can see them. Tama ako dalawang tao ang pumasok sa greenhouse, isang lalaki at isang babae. The girl is no other than Shanel, but what caught me off guard is the guy, he was the very guy that this ghost love dearly, it was Romeo, and they were kissing.

**********Lyka POV**********

      “No!” Ang mahina kong sagot that suddenly explode to a burst of shout.

       For the first time ever I was glad na walang nakakarinig sa akin, well beside Leon that was clamping his hands to his ears.

    K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

The both of them are kissing, not just a kiss but a very passionate one. 

The kiss maybe malulunok ko pa, but the next scene I want to kill them.

They went naked and their having the time of their life.

S-E-X!

The three letter one word that broke my faith. Ganoon ba akong kadaling kalimutan at nakuha ninyong gawin yan?

I never did that, sa fact na we are in a relationship I stayed virgin. I never seduce him like that. I badly want to hurt her, to hurt him, when a hand hold me tight.

     “Bitiwan mo ako!” I said with my teeth gritting.

     “Stop! You can’t do anything. Isa pa kapag hinayaan mo ang galit mo you can’t go to paradise ever. Once you hurt somebody, evil will claim you.” He calmly explain.

     “Anong gusto mong gawin ko? Nakikita mo kung ano ang nakikita ko hindi ba?” Galit kong sigaw.

     “Then don’t look at it!” He said.

   That instant hinila niya ako at niyakap niya ako. His chest block my view. And tears flow freely!

**********Leon POV***********

         I don’t know why I did that. All I know is that I have to shelter her. To block the view. She don’t deserve to be hurt. The scenario didn’t last long, they get dress and just like nothing happen they leave.

         She manage to calm down before Brook, Atina and Grace arrived. I kept the whole thing as a secret. The three of them started to narrate the investigation of the day when suddenly I notice something shining three steps away from where I sat.

          “Wait lang guys!” I said then I approach it.

         It was a necklace, with a heart pendant and arrow. 

         “Leon ano iyon?” Ang tanong ni Lyka sa akin.

         “Lyka is this seems familiar to you?” I don’t know why’d I ask.

        “Patingin.” Ang sabi niya sabay lapit sa akin.

        Her eyes went blank…

        “Lyka bakit?” Ang pag-aalala kong tanong.

        “That’s mine. Well Romeo gave that to me on our one year anniversary. On the back may nakaukit yan na initial ng name niya at nang name ko.” She said while her eyes is fixated on the necklace.

       I flip the pendant and there I saw it, the engrave initials.

      R that means Romeo and L for Lyka.

          We look at each other, and we know the answer and we suddenly know who to follow.

           Grace presented some information that leads the same direction my mind went. May nakapagsabi sa kanya na nakita daw niya si Lyka the night before she disappeared na papunta sa park, wearing a white dress.

           Brook found a diary that belongs to Shanel, last Monday while he follows her, she found out na may balak siyang sunugin ito. Siyempre it was half burn before Brook recued it. At least readable pa ang last page that stated this;

‘Today I’ll take her away. Today she’ll disappear and I will be happy. Today what’s her’s is mine. And today my fairytale will come true.’

       Then the rest is burned. Mrs. Pots followed her on her house where she found a dress that was covered in blood, that she stored on the basement wrapping on a bulk of paper. I don’t know how Atina manage to get it but she got it. And she was holding the fabric in her hands. 

         The only missing thing is the material that cause her death. With those things we hope na maalala ni Lyka ang last part ng kanyang buhay.

           We search and search and before we knew it it was sixty days on counting.

Clues are every where and we are heading to the end of the puzzle.
