Mackenzie's POV
I wake up, being greeted by the sound of my alarm going off. I sighed and turn it off. Getting out of bed, preparing to get ready for school. At least it's Friday though. That's all I can say.
I walk to the bathroom and splash some water in my face. Trying to wake myself up. After that, I washed my face and plugged in my hair straightener.
I go back to my room and start to get changed. Putting on some black skinny jeans, a white T-shirt and a ripped denim jacket.
Fortunately it wasn't too cold here in Pittsburgh today. Even though it is fall and it usually becomes 65 degrees.
I slipped on my black slip on vans and walk to my vanity, where I did my makeup. Making it natural, nothing too heavy.
Once I was done with that I did my hair which, on a good day takes me fifteen to twenty minutes. Lucky for me, today was one of those good days.
When I finished, I straightened everything up and went downstairs to get some breakfast. Reaching the kitchen I find my sister, mother and father at the table eating.
"Morning Mackenzie," Dad greets smiling, just before sipping his coffee.
"Morning Dad," I say, getting a bowl of oatmeal putting some fruit in it and taking a seat next to Maddie.
"So what do you girls have planned today?" Mom asked, trying to make small talk.
"We have the football game today," Maddie smiled.
"Oh ya, the football game," I muttered.
Maddie is head cheerleader, which means my friends and I were automatically on the team when we tried out this year.
If I'm being honest, I really didn't want to go to the game. It reminds me too much of John and plus, I just want to watch it from the stands. Hell I don't even have to watch the game, I just want to stay at home and watch movies all night.
"What's wrong? You don't sound excited," Maddie asked me.
I shrugged, "just tired."
She nods and looks at the time. Moments later dragging me out the door so we could get to school "on time."
Maddie's on time is fifteen minutes early. I mean, I don't blame her. The traffic to get into school is terrible. Especially ten minutes before school starts.
I don't mind it too much though. We just sit in her car for ten minutes or so, until we feel the need to meet up with friends.
As we drove to school it was quiet. It's not usually like this, which is really weird for us.
"You okay Mack? You're more quiet than usual," Maddie questions.
I shrugged, "I just miss him."
She nods, placing her hand on my thigh, rubbing it. "I get it Kenz. He was your first real boyfriend, he moved away but, you have those letters. So it's like having him here for the time being," Maddie explains. "Maybe you can open that letter tonight. Or the first Friday night lights letter."
I looked at Maddie and smiled.
"You read my mind."
She glanced at me, giving me a small smile. Then turning back to the road, she pulls into school. Parking in her usual parking spot, and we just sit in the car.
I take out my phone and go through Snapchat. Replying to everyone who had sent something.
I take a deep breath and look up at my sister. In a way, jealous of her. Envying her. She has everything anyone could want in life. She's head cheerleader, captain of the volleyball team, straight A's, naturally beautiful, amazing boyfriend I mean, her life is like a movie. Just so perfect.
