Mackenzie's POV

February fourteenth, Valentine's Day. The day of love, candies, chocolates and oversized teddy bears in teenage world. Of course there's always sex which is an added bonus.

For my sixteen years alive I've only spent three of them with a significant other. Two were with Johnny and one was with an ex boyfriend from sixth grade, technically it shouldn't really count but, I guess I could say I've only spent two with a boyfriend.

This year, like the other years of my life, I am alone. My boyfriend is not here to celebrate with me.

I didn't want to go to school today, mostly because I didn't want to see or deal with all the lovey dovey couples bullshit. Yet, just like any other day, I got out of bed and I dealt with it.

When I go downstairs I see two giant baskets with giant teddy bears behind them.

I smiled weakly. Every year my parents do this for my sister and I. They get us these baskets full of candies, chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries with and oversized stuffed bear.

I look to my right and see my parents smiling at my sister and I from the kitchen.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Mom smiled, walking over and hugging us.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Maddie and I respond.

"What are you two going to be doing today?" Dad asks, as we walk to the kitchen for breakfast.

"I'm going out with Jack," Maddie smiled.

I frowned looking down at the plate of food my mother gave me.

"I'll be here watching movies and being alone," I say bitterly. "Who knows, I might have Carson join me and we can be sad together."

My family gives me a look of sympathy.

"Sweetie, why don't you invite Carson over. I mean, your father and I are leaving today at noon for our getaway trip, Maddie is going to be gone. So have him come over. You won't be so alone," Mom suggested.

I nodded taking a bite of a strawberry.

"I'll see if he can."

Mom sends me a gentle smile. Soon they start talking about other things while I, stare into space. Until Maddie drags me out of the house to get to school.

"So, by the way, I didn't want to say this in front of Mom and Dad but, when you and Jack are having sex use protection," I joke, turning towards Maddie as she starts to drive.

She chuckled and playfully smacked my arm.

"At least I'll get something Mrs. I haven't had sex in months," Maddie teased.

I sent her a death glare as she laughed.

"It's not funny, it sucks not being able to have Johnny here," I pout.

"Then do something to help yourself! God, if Jack was gone for that long I mean I would've pleasured myself in someway or another," Maddie stated.

"Yeah but, Madz if I were to have any of the stuff to pleasure myself with you and Mom would flip shit."

"Touché."

-

"Hey Cars," I greeted, giving him a hug.

"Hey Kenz," he said hugging me back.

I let go of him and turn to open my locker. Moments later actually successfully opening it without any problems.

"What are you doing tonight?" I question, glancing back at him.

"Um, probably jerking off in my room alone why?" Carson responded laughed.

I froze and turned back to look at him before laughing.

"Well, I didn't need to know that part," I laughed. "I was just going to order in or something and watch movies if you wanted to join me?"

Carson smiled at me nodding, "I'd like that."

"And no jerking off," I inform, slamming my locker shut.

"Hey, no promises," Carson defended.

-

I take a seat on my bed and open up the box. Skimming through it and finding the one I wanted to read.

"Hey Kenz I'm leaving!" Maddie shouts.

"Okay! Have fun!" I shout.

I continue going through the many envelopes and finally pull out a red envelope. Covered in hearts and pink stickers and little roses.

I slide open the flap and pull out the letter. Unfolding it I hold it lightly between my fingertips and begin to read.

Dear Kenzie,

Happy Valentine's Day baby.

I wish I could be there to celebrate with you. It kills me that I can't. But hey, that's okay, I'm there in spirit and you're here in spirit too.

I have a present for you but, that'll come later on in the letter. Please don't skip over all of this because you want to know where it's located. I really want you to read this.

I remember our first Valentine's Day when we were seeing each other back in eighth grade. I had come over and given you a large teddy bear that barely fit in my mother's car, loads of chocolate and candy and a bracelet with a letter K charm.

You loved that bracelet in the store so I knew I had to get it for you. You were so surprised when you saw it. You didn't think I would've gotten you such an expensive gift.

Yet price doesn't matter when I comes to you. I'll buy you everything in the world as long as it makes you happy.

Now to your present, if you go into your closet and locate a red box on top of the shelf you will find your gift and the rest of this letter there.

To be continued...

I fold up the letter follow his instructions. Going to my closet I found the box and got it down. Of course struggling in the process too.

I take it back and sit down. Opening up I see a rose and a small box. I open up the box and see a bracelet with a little heart on it.

I smiled and put it on my wrist then pick up the letter he left.

Hey baby girl, you found it. I hope you like it. I had it custom made. Don't worry about money either because like I said I'll buy you everything in the world to make you happy.

As for the rose, it is fake yes but, it represents my love. Since the Rose is fake it'll never die. Like my love for you.

I hope you love it as much as I love you. Happy Valentine's Day baby.

I love you to the moon and back Mack.

Love,
Johnny

I close up the letter and smile even bigger. Picking up the rose and holding it in my hand. Spinning it around for no apparent reason.

"Happy Valentine's Day baby."
