Chapter 11 • Urban Outfitters

Mackenzie's POV

"Wait, you did what?!" Maddie exclaimed.

I bit my lip and looked down at my hands resting in my lap. I told her about what happened with Carson on Halloween.

"I k-kissed Carson," I admit quietly.

"Mackenzie, you're still dating Johnny! What the hell were you thinking?!" Maddie interrogates.

I sigh and cover my face with me hands.

"I don't know okay? I was drunk and a little high and I don't know. He read Johnny's letter and I just needed a kiss. I don't know, I'm so fucking stupid."

"First of all, language. Second, I'm going to address the drunk and high part in a minute. And third, you're not stupid. You just needed to feel comforted because you miss your boyfriend. It's not like you liked it right?" Maddie asks.

I shake my head, "no I mean, it's Carson. He's one of my best friends. Plus he's my best friends boyfriend. It meant nothing to either of us."

"See, there's nothing to worry about. Alright? Now to the drinking and the smoking, what the hell were you thinking?!" Maddie scolds.

I rolled my eyes and looked out the window of her car. I didn't want to hear her lecture on why it's bad and all that. Meanwhile she does it too. It doesn't make sense to me but whatever.

"Can you lecture me later Maddie? I'm not in the mood," I grumbled.

She turns to me for a moment then turns back to the road. Not planning to get in an accident anytime soon.

"Fine, but let me say this first. I know you're thinking I'm lecturing you for no reason, and that I do the same things," Maddie begins. "But, I'm doing it because you do this more often then I do. I don't want this to be a habit. I've caught you drinking at home, and I've found your stash, I'm not letting you ruin your life."

I take a deep breath and nod.

"Sorry."

I walk around the mall with my sister and her friends. Unfortunately my friends couldn't make it. They're with their boyfriends.

Lucky bastards.

"So Kenz, how're you doing?" Kalani asks.

I shrugged, crossing my arms across my chest.

"Alright I guess," I muttered.

"You okay? You seem out of it," Chloe questioned.

I bit my lip and looked down at my feet. I was out of it. I've been out of it for awhile. I miss Johnny, I keep thinking about him. He's everything to me, now I feel like I've betrayed him AND Lauren by kissing Carson.

"She's just a bit distracted, some stuff is going on," Maddie answered for me.

I look up at her and smile weakly. Thanking god that she said that.

"Guys lets go to urban outfitters!" Kendall exclaimed, spotting the store.

Before I was able to say yes, I was being dragged to the store. Now being forced to roam the isles and racks of clothing. Searching through the racks and shelves.

I let my feet drag me to wherever, finding myself in the men's department. By the hoodies and sweatshirts.

I immediately see a hoodie I liked. A yellow hoodie with red writing on it. On the sleeve it said Coca-Cola and on the front it said the same thing, but in Japanese.

It looks like something John would wear. He loved this store. Since the first day I dragged him into here.

Flashback

"Oh! Urban outfitters!" I exclaim excitedly.

"What? No! Mack, we've been to every girlie store in here," Johnny complains. "I need to go somewhere for me babe."

"For your information Johnny boy, urban outfitters is for both boys and girls. Now come on!"

I grabbed him by the wrist and drag him into the store.

"Babe ple- whoa, I like that hoodie," John said, getting distracted by a Stussy hoodie he saw.

I grinned, walking over to him as he grabbed the hoodie. Holding it in his hands, a sly smile appears on his face.

"So much for a girlie store now huh?" I question.

He turns to me and grins.

"Just because I found one thing I liked doesn't prove anything," John states.

"Okay well, we're going shopping in here. And we are shopping for you. To prove that there's more here that you like," I say, grabbing ahold of his hand.

"Now what did I tell you?" I question crossing my arms.

I turn around see John with a disappointed look on his face. Knowing he was wrong about the store.

"I was wrong. You were right," he sighed.

I smiled, "exactly. Now since I was right to I get something in return?"

He smiled and kissed me. Caressing my cheek for a moment.

"How about, after I wear one of these hoodies for a bit, I give it to you?" Johnny asks.

I smiled and nodded.

"I'd love that."

End of flashback

I jump as I see a hand appear in front of my face. I turn and see Maddie and Kendall standing next to me. With a worried expression painted on their faces.

"You okay? We've been trying to get your attention for like five minutes," Maddie asks.

I hesitate for a moment before answering.

"Ya, I'm fine," I nod. "Just thinking."

"About Johnny?" Kendall asks.

"No!"

"Yes!" They replied.

"What's going on here?"

We turn around and see Kalani, Chloe and Nia standing behind us. Clothes piled in their arms.

"Mackenzie's lying about thinking about Johnny," Kendall explains.

"Are you?" Nia asks.

I groaned and nodded, "fine. I am but, only because this was one of his favorite stores."

I see Maddie giving me a sympathetic look. Walking over and wrapping her arm around me.

"How about we get this, go home, eat a bunch of food and watch movies the rest of the day. Sound good?" She suggested, knowing I can't deny that offer.

I smiled and nodded.

"Please!"

The girls laugh, smiling at me for my sudden mood change. We turn on our heels and make our way to the register, with Maddie's arm still wrapped around me.

"It'll get better soon. Promise," she whispers.

God, I hope she's right.
