Mackenzie's POV

I turn around looking in the mirror. Observing my costume for tonight. Black cocktail dress and bunny ears.

I know really slutty but, Mean Girls is correct. Halloween in girl world is wearing slutty dresses with a form of animal ears.

Pleased with how it looks, I pick up my phone and take a few selfies. Then hearing a knock at my door I look up, seeing Carson in the doorway.

He smiled weakly and walks over. I look at his costume, he's wearing a a black dress shirt, black skinny jeans, a red tie and black converse with a spiked belt.

I smiled knowing exactly what he is.

"Hello there American Idiot, where's Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt?" I laughed.

He laughs too, "I'm glad you knew I was Billie Joe Armstrong," he smiled.

"Of course that's a classic," I state.

He nods and smiled down at me. "You look nice. You ready to go?" Carson asked.

I nodded smiling. I grab his arm and we walk downstairs together. Hanging out in the living room were my friends, who were sat on the couch, on their phones.

"Okay, she's ready, let's go," Carson announced.

Everybody stood up and smiled. We walked out of my house, past the truck or treaters and to Carson's car. When we get in, I sat next to Carson while everyone else was in the back.

Carson drives down to the party, which is a few streets away. It only takes about, five minutes or so to get there.

Needless to say, we knew which house it was. Carson parks the car on the side of the road, letting all of us out. We walk together and enter the house.

The scent of alcohol and pot were in the air. Just like any other high school party, people were drinking, some getting high, other's were scoring in a spare bedroom and music blasted so loud that the house vibrated.

All the couples went their separate ways, besides Carson and I. I look at him nervously. I know this isn't what either of us preferred tonight. Parties are more for couples, not two people who's significant others moved away and now they only have each other.

"Hey, it'll be fine. You can have a few drinks, I'll have a shot or two. You can get a few puffs, then you and I can leave early. Everyone else said they'd Uber," Carson suggests.

I smile weakly and nod, taking a hold of his hand lightly. Our fingers barely intertwined. It was nice though. Having Carson as a rock.

"I'd like that," I say.

He smiled down at me and we walk together to the kitchen. He grabs a red solo cup and turns to me.

"Coke and rum?" Carson asks.

Nodded, my jaw dropping open, surprised how he knew it was my favorite drink.

"How'd you know that's my favorite drink?"

"You and Lauren were practically the same person. Plus, you're my second best friends that's a girl. Besides Lauren of course. So when John and I got the drinks, we always got two come and rums," Carson explained.

I nodded smiling at him. He hands me the cup and I happily take it. Sipping it a little at a time.

"How about we dance?" Carson asks.
