I sat nervously in the waiting room and soon my mum arrived and I explained everything to her.
"Shawn, I'm so sorry" my mum said. I looked at her and I couldn't hold my tears in any more, and I just let it all out. My mum hugged me tightly as I cried. "What if we loose the baby? Or I loose Malia?" I asked. "Shawn look at me" my mum said softy. I looked up at her. "Shawn, Malia and your baby are in the best place" she said. At that moment the nurse walked in and me and my mum quickly stood up.
"How was it?" I asked eagerly.
"Well your baby is absolutely fine, congratulations on your baby girl" the nurse said.
"However Malia did suffer heavy blood loss which is worrying right now but she's currently being operated on" she added. "So um where's the, um where's my daughter" I said. Wow that sounds weird. I have a daughter. "Well, as she was born prematurely, her lungs haven't fully developed so our nurses are currently helping her with her breathing and taking a closer look at her and if that all goes well then you can come and look at her" the nurse said. "So will she survive?" I asked. "It's hard to tell right now, but I have hope" she said and then left.
"I have a daughter" I said to my mum. "Congrats darling" my mum said as she hugged me.
It was fifteen minutes later when I was finally allowed to see Malia. I walked in and she was laying on the bed looking tired and pale. She looked beautiful.
