My Anchor

You were my anchor.
You were my savior.
Then I saw a glimpse of her.
And I saw you for what you were.
You are the rock that drags me down.
Your touch keeps me from making a sound.
Your love is the rope that keeps me tied.
This is not the first time I've died.

She gave me color in my world of gray.
She gave me hope to walk another day.
Then you came back and I knew what was true.
And I understood what you wanted to do.
You are the con artist I could never beat.
Your words tricked me every time we meet.
Your voice is like a mermaids siren call.
This is what will always be my downfall.
