A/n: This story is from something larger I've been working on. Quick background, Scott's first week ever as an English teacher, Mitch is in his senior English class. Kirstie has detention for disrupting class to protect Mitch from bullies. (Bullies also had detention in case you're wondering.)

Love lots -AV

Wednesday was Kirstin's turn for detention. She was on time which didn't surprise her teachers. However, the fact that Mitch accompanied her did.

"Mitch, what are you doing? I didn't give you detention."

"I know Mr. Hoying. But... uhh... would it be o-okay i-if I-I stayed? I-I don't like sitting alone at lunch."

Scott looked at Avi who just shrugged, he'd never had a kid willingly show up for a detention that wasn't theirs.

"I mean... I guess. But you can't talk to Kirstie so I guess you can pull up a chair and sit with me and Av... I mean me and Mr. Kaplan."

Mitch mumbled a thank you before grabbing a chair and pulling it over.

It was awkward sitting with his teachers. Mitch kept quiet and picked at his food as the the older two talked and laughed. That is until Mr. Hoying began directing questions his way, startling him from his daydreams.

"What hobbies do you have Mitch?"

"Ummmmm... I uhh sing and play piano that's about it."

"He's amazing Scott. Truly incredible, probably one of the best tenors I've heard in my life."

"Thanks Mr. K."

"So I take it I'll be seeing you in choir rehearsals after school?"

"Yes sir... are you helping Mr. Kaplan?"

"I am. Avi asked me and since he knows I have nothing better to do I couldn't say no."

Mitch grinned at his English teacher, now even more excited for rehearsals to start next week. Not only would he get to spend more time away from home but that time would be with his attractive teacher.

The following day, Kirstie's last day of detention and it wasn't a shock when Mitch showed up again. However this time instead of hesitating he quickly pulled a chair up to the teacher's desk and took out his lunch. The day went the same as the day before. However, Scott couldn't help but notice the glances Mitch kept shooting his way. Had it been any other student eyeing him that way he would have felt uncomfortable. But with Mitch he felt flattered.

He wasn't the only one who noticed and that afternoon he got a lecture from his roommate.

"Scott you have to keep boundaries clear. Any murkiness can be misconstrued into meaning something more than it does. You just started teaching, a scandal could kill your career before it even starts. I know you see something in Mitch and you have the need to fix him just like with every other relationship but he's your student..."

"I'm not stupid Avi. I won't let anything happen like that. And I do not feel the need to fix all my boyfriends..."

"Ummm... Mark was an alcoholic, Mason was a druggie, Vince had commitment issues, Connor was depressed, and you were determined you could save each and every one of them. And where did it get you Scottie? Sad, alone, and broken on my couch. And I'm not saying anything bad about that because you know I'll help you however I can. But I don't want to see you like that again or even worse behind bars because that's what this would lead to."
