Eliza looked at her sister, Angelica, who was entertaining everybody in the ballroom at once with her outlandish stories and outspoken voice. She laughed at her and poked Peggy, "She's really dazzling the room, yeah?" She asked, fanning herself as it was a hot night.

Peggy looked over at Angelica and shrugged, downing her glass of wine, "That's her job though. To be the one grabbing the spotlight and stuff."

"Are you even old enough to drink?" Eliza asked suspiciously as Peggy grabbed another glass from a waiter carrying a tray, plopping her empty one in its place.

Peggy, again, shrugged and looked at Eliza with an innocent smile, "Daddy said I could so I can." She rationalized and Eliza wanted to argue with that logic but she really couldn't.

The door opened to welcome more guests so Eliza turned to see them and felt her heart flutter before it began to beat loudly and her face colored instantly. Him. He was the one. Quickly, she skirted the ballroom with her eyes locked on that man intently, "Look this way cmmon just-just look over here." She hissed as she tried to make eye contact.

She realized she'd have to get into the mesh of people to get to him as the band picked up so she tried to but she kept getting pushed an shoved by people who were dancing. She grabbed a small glass of wine and downed it after she escaped the dance floor to calm down before an idea hit her, "Angelica."

She put the empty glass down and turned to locate her sister, searching the ballroom until her eyes landed on her, "Ange-" She stopped. Eliza followed her sister's gaze to the man she had suddenly fallen in love with and her heart seemed to stop as it hallowed out.

She put some hair behind her ear and looked down, wrapping an arm around herself as she realized three things. One, She could switch places with Angelica, she was going to marry rich to social climb instead as it was evident she couldn't marry for love. Two, her sister had always gone to great lengths to make sure Eliza and Peggy were happy so she deserved this more than Eliza did. And finally, three, with him she could be satisfied.

Eliza shoved her feelings down and ran over to Angelica, attaching herself to her arm and whispering, "Go get 'im." Into her ear.

Angelica shoved her off playfully before giggling and nodding, sending Eliza a thumbs up before she turned into the room and made her way to him. Eliza smiled sadly as they connected instantly and made her way out of the room so Angelica wouldn't see her heartbroken expression and try to give her the man they were both going crazy for.

One week later Eliza noticed every night when she passed Angelica's room her sister was hard at work writing so eventually she knocked softly and asked, "Why're you up so late, like, every day just writing?" She entered the room as she said this and sat down on Angelica's bed.

"Because..." Angelica smiled and held her letter up, "My life gets better every single letter Alexander writes me!" Alexander was the man, the man Eliza gave up, "And so if I write him he will write me. It's a flawless victory for Angelica!" She fist bumped as Eliza laughed at her antics, she was glad her sister was this happy.

Eliza winked and forced playfulness and teasing into her voice as she said, "If you really love him you'd share him." She smirked.

"Ha!" Angelica yelled and turned back to her letter, "Don't make me laugh he's all mine. Mine mine mine mine mine." Eliza had noticed that Angelica giggles, grins, and smiles more often now so she knew this was a good call, she was so happy.

Two weeks later Angelica burst into Eliza's room where Eliza was having her hair braided by Peggy as they gossiped. She was red in the face an out of breath making her younger sisters jump up in concern, "Alex proposed and he's asking father for permission to marry me." She blurted out.

"Oh my God congratulations!" Peggy cheered and hugged Angelica and soon Eliza joined the hug though she tilted her head down to keep her real emotions hidden, "I can't wait for the wedding!"

"That's if father says yes," Angelica reminded her, "Peggy, you'll be a bridesmaid if we have a wedding and don't elope and Eliza you'll be my Maid of Honor." She decided and Peggy squealed in excitement.

"Let's go downstairs and see where they're at!" Peggy suggested and they nodded, all of them going to the living room and sitting down, Angelica in the middle with Peggy leaned forward and Eliza holding her elder sister's hand for support as Angelica looked beyond stressed.

Eliza looked at their father to see he was expressionless and his face was neutral. Alex himself looked a bit panicky as he tried to convince Philip to let him marry his eldest and most witty daughter. Eliza looked at Angelica to find her eyes looked sunken in as she died inside from the absolute stress of it all with small tears in the corner of her eyes.

"It'll be alright," Eliza whispered and ran her thumb over Angelica's knuckles in an attempt to comfort her, "There's nothing that his mind can't do." She added and Angelica nodded tensely as she knew that, at least, was true.

Her head snapped back to the table as her father's chair scraped across the floor as he stood up and made his way to Alexander. Angelica stood up in fear as Alex stumbled to his feet but Philip just shook Alexander's hand and said, "Be true."

Alex looked back at Angelica and she laughed as tears spilled from her eyes in happiness, running to Alex as they both smiled so wide it was almost contagious. Alex picked Angelica up in a spin and held her by her hips as they relished in their absolute happiness, there was no other word for it, they were just happy.

"This boy is mine-" Angelica let the words hit her before she threw her arms around Alex's neck, "This boy is mine!" She yelled to the world as Alex wrapped his arms around her waist.

Eliza smiled a bit sadly and stayed seated as Alex spoke, setting Angelica down and putting his forehead against hers, "Angelica...I don't have a dollar to my name, an acre of land, a troop to command, a dollop of fame. All I have's my honor, a tolerance for pain, a couple of college credits and my top notch brain. Insane! Your family brings out a different side of me...Peggy confides in me-Elizabeth tried to take a bite of me." Angelica turned to Eliza who threw her finger guns but Alex gently tilted her face back to his, "No stress my love for you is never in doubt we'll get a little place in Harlem and we'll figure it out..." He tilted his own head to the side a little bit and looked away from her, "I've been living without a family since I was a child my father left my mother died I grew up buckwild but I'll never forget my mother's face that was real as long as I'm alive, Angie, I swear to God I'll make you feel-"

"-Satisfied." Angelica interrupted and kissed him after. He melted into her arms and they shared this kiss with their eyes closed just forgetting the world. Eliza had to look away as she could feel herself beginning to break again.

When they separated Alex turned to his future father-in-law and said, "My life is gonna be fine because your daughter's in it."

Angelica added, "I look into his eyes and the sky's the limit!" Alex turned to her and they shared another kiss though this one had a sweet tone to it.

Eliza sighed and patted Alexander's back and he turned and hugged her so she whispered, "Keep her satisfied and happy for me will you?"

He nodded, "I promise I will." He then went on to hug Peggy as Eliza stealthily left the room to go cry in privacy but told anybody who asked her if she was okay that she was fine. She was lying. She just felt so...so helpless in her own life because she couldn't even love without getting hurt and nobody could help her because she couldn't let anybody know, especially not Angelica.
