Twenty - five

Jo's POV

I woke up with my head pounding and body weak. I slowly opened my eyes to find doctors and nurses surrounding. Once the doctor see's I'm up he takes his light & open my eyes a little wider to take a better look.

" Eyes look good , pupils are reacting. " He clicks it off and put's it away. " Could you excuse us ? " he asks his colleagues and the walk out.

He looks at me like I'm supposed to be the one asking him questions. He tilts his head to the side and let's out a chuckle.

" Jocelyn Blair , how do you not recognize your uncle ? " His mask cover most of his features but as I take a look at his bright , blue eyes I know it's him. Our eyes are some what similar , they're very vibrant and change colors. Right now mine is a grayish color.

People even used to think he's my father. It's crazy right ?

He removes his hospital mask and I laugh but it hurts so I stop. What is my Uncle Hunter doing here ?

" How did you find me ? Does dad know your here ? " He shakes his head. A few years ago my Uncle wanted to take me away from my dad but of course they said no. I was always more close to him anybody.

I saw him recently before I left New York. He was the first and only one to know I was leaving.

" Your brothers called me. I know a few people here and they got me in. Jocelyn how did you get in this mess ? "

" Zion . He's shot . "

" Little Caleb ? Oh god. I remember that young bull. He's a fighter I'm sure he will be okay "

" Yeah ."

" Now about Nick Mara H- "

" Code blue , code blue to room 2132 "

" No , no ! " I yell out as I try to get up but Hunter holds me down. " T-Thats Z's room ! I have to go ! " He gives me that look that always scared me ever since a kid & I coward away.

" Do you even know what's wrong with you ? You was poisoned Jo . "  He says calmly and I look at him with wide eyes.

" What ? How ? "

" I don't know. I knew it when I saw you lifeless on this bed. The tube on your IV has a hole in it. The doctors don't know jack shit in this hospital but I know. " I think about it.

Somebody actually tried to kill me.

" I'll go check it out. I'm sure it's a false alarm. " I shake my head and push the man away. I get up , forgetting any shoes as I run past the door into the hallways. He calls after me but I just run into the nearest stair case. It's only upstairs.

I skip stairs as my feet starts to numb against the cold floor. I feel my knees giving up on me but I keep going. Once I'm on Zion's floor I see a whole lot of commotion going on. The next thing I see makes me run faster .

Zion is being pulled out his room with doctors taking his bed away from his room. He has a mask on his face with wires on him and I swear the whole world stops. This has to be a dream.

" Zion ! " I scream but it feels like it's in slow motion. His eyes meet mine and he tries to get up. His eyes are almost popping out his head and he's trying to fight off the nurses. Police officers await the doctors. What is going on ?

" Z ?! What the hell is happening ??? " I run up to the bed and grab him , embracing him. I could feel arms grasping my elbows but I hold him tighter. " Don't let go . " I whisper in his ear. He wraps his arms around me.

He feels a lot much stronger but soon enough I'm ripped away . " No ! Jo ! Let go of me . " his voice is hoarse , wild hair. He looks awful. The nurses continue to push his bed and A pair of arms grab me. I look back and its my uncle. The police officers follow the crowd of nurses and I just cry.

Zion screams at the top of his lungs . Not only for me but for his wounds are hurting him. I scream back for him but soon enough I'm put back on my feet in a whole different room.

" What the hell ?! Zion woke up & they're doing that to him. I gotta go . " He stands his guard and I know this time it's no escaping.

"He's wanted for murder Jo ! " I take a step back and fall into the chair. " They're saying he killed Vincent Mara , I know he couldn't of done it but they're putting him in ICU. Nobody is going to be able to be able to see him now. "

Murder ? Zion would never kill anybody. This is not happening. This can't be real.

" How is he awake so fast ? He was in a whole coma . "

" It wasn't a coma. "

" what ? "

" you both were poisoned but instead of his IV , it was the bullets. " Is this even real ? Is somebody writing my life ? Is this a movie ? I feel like this is a dream or some sort of life , I don't know.

" But he woke up later than me . "

" He was shot so it impacted his body more. He'll be fine but he's going to jail as soon as he heals. His life is over Jo . Vincent Mara is a very known man here in LA . He has connects everywhere. "

" So Nick's fath- wait you were about to tell me something about Nick earlier . What ? "

" You don't remember cause you were too young but you know Nick. I took you a couple times when you were about four or five to LA. I try hard for weeks to make you forget it because you saw Nick's mom died. "

" Death ? What , how did she look ? "

" You found here on the bathroom floor , bloody and passed out .The window was broken like somebody broke in.  "

I take time to remember but then I shake my head a his crazy talk. My mom was on that bathroom floor. Not Nick's mom.

" Can't be. That was my mom . Ace told me the story on how she almost lost my brother. That's nonsense. "

" There's a lot you don't know about your life Jo. So many secrets and lies .. you'll find out soon. "

I wish this was a dream.
