Mark’s Point of View

As I stepped into my car, I felt a large pang of guilt in my stomach. I did have feelings for Emma, I truly did, but I honestly had stronger feelings for Ruby.

After hearing what had happened to Emma, with her past boyfriend, I haven’t stopped feeling guilty. I mean, I know she’s had past relationship problems, I have too, but would she be willing to look past them and let me be with the one I truly want to be with?

I sigh as I pull back into my apartment complex, getting out of my car and pulling out my keys. Memories of earlier came flooding back to me, and I couldn’t help smiling at the good time Ruby and I had.

“Oh wow, your place is really nice.” Ruby says in awe, taking in the roomy apartment.

I smile at how adorable she looked. “Thanks. I mean, it’s not like my home back in Cincinnati, but it’s my new home. A new start for new possibilities.” I breathe out a laugh, and Ruby just smiles at me.

“That’s a really nice way to think about it. But anyway, I really hope I’m not being rude by asking this, but where’s your washer and dryer?” She asked me, holding out her dirty clothes in her hands. I smack my forehead and motion for Ruby to follow me to the laundry room.

“Now this…” I say, waving my hand around the washer and dryer. “Is the most spectacular washer and dryer you will ever use in your life! Now, this one,” I slide my hand over the washer. “Washes things… Oh! And this one dries things!” I motion over to the dryer, and Ruby is clutching her stomach from laughing so hard. I blush slightly, but take her clothes from her and throw them into the washer, setting them to wash for about 40 minutes.

“So… What do you wanna do?” I ask Ruby, trying to break the awkward silence filling the room. She just shrugs and then after a minute she shifts a bit and speaks up.

“Hey Mark, can I use your bathroom?” She asks, and I can’t help but laugh.

“Of course you can! Just go up the stairs and if you wonder a bit you should find it.” I say, and she laughs as she begins to head up the stairs.

“Oh, and don’t forget to-“I start, but was cut off by Ruby, who was still climbing up the spiral staircase.

“I know I know, reverse gyrate out of the bathroom for everyone’s safety.” She giggles as she climbs up the steps, and I hear a door shut.

I laugh to myself for a minute, but soon just sit there, completely still.

“Wait… How could she have known…?” I say quietly to myself, puzzled. The only way she could have known that is if she watched my videos…

I quickly shake that thought out of my head. There is NO way possible that Ruby watches my videos. Could there?

I’m snapped out of my thoughts by Ruby waving her hand in front of my face and giggling.

“Hello, Mark? You still with my?” She jokes, and I smile at her.

“Y-Yeah, sorry. Just kind of zoned out there.” I reply stupidly. I mentally face palm myself.  ‘Really Mark?!’ I think to myself before I am once again shaken from my thoughts by Ruby.

“Yeah, I could tell.” She laughs as she sits down next to me. We lock eyes and I can’t help buy stare into them and get a good look at them.

They were a clear, piercing green, probably the clearest green I’ve ever seen in anyone’s eyes. There was a sparkle in them from the lighting in the room, and I couldn’t help but smile.
