Ruby’s Point of View
After watching videos for half an hour, I decide to go back downstairs and hand out with Emma. Not to my surprise, she was getting ready to leave.
“Where you going?” I ask, and she smiles as she sees me.
“Oh, Ruby! I’m going out shopping with a few friends. Do you wanna come with?” She asks me, and I shake my head in reply.
“Nah, I’m just gonna chill here.” I reply, plopping on the bright orange couch.
“Alrighty then. Oh, and do me a favor and pick up my phone if anyone calls. I hate interrupting people with it.” She says, throwing me her phone. I catch it and nod my head.
“Will do! Have fun, and if you see anything I might like, I’m a size six. Unless it’s in shoes, then I’m a nine.” I wink at Emma as she walks towards the door.
“Will do! See you later!” She calls as she leaves the house.
I smile as I get comfortable with a big, fuzzy white blanket and turn on one on my favorite movies: ‘The Princess and the Frog’. Don’t judge me, it’s a good movie!
I go and get up to make myself some popcorn, but I see that there was already some, popped, in the microwave.
“Awe yus!” I mutter to myself as I pull out the popcorn and put it in a bowl. I walk back over to the couch, and shut off the lights before getting comfortable once again, and press play.
I was only about a half an hour into the movie when Emma’s phone started to ring. I sigh angrily as I paused the movie and turned the lights back on.
“It was just getting good!” I mutter to myself as I pick up the pink bedazzled iPhone on the third ring. Before I picked it up, I saw Marks face to show that he was calling. My stomach flutters slightly as I pick up the phone.
“Hello, this is Emma’s phone. She’s missing in action at the moment, how may I help you?” I ask, being the dork that I am.
“Hey Ruby! It’s Mark.” Mark replies stupidly, and I can’t help but laugh. My heart beats a little faster at how adorable Mark could be at times.
“Really? I had no idea!” I reply, my voice thick with sarcasm.
“Oh, heh, sorry.” Mark says, obviously embarrassed by his adorable stupidity. Stop it Ruby! Mark is Emma boyfriend, not yours.
“So what up? You planning on making another date with Emma? You know, you’re all she talks about now a days.” I say truthfully, trying to change the subject.
“Actually I was. Where is she?” Mark questions, and I sigh quietly.
“She went out shopping with some friends.” I state.
“And she didn’t take you?” Mark asks me, confused. That’s when an idea pops into my genius brain.
Maybe if I pretend that Emma didn’t take me, I could make Emma look like the bad guy, and I could talk with Mark longer!
I sigh sadly before I continue talking.
“Nope. But this happens all the time. So I usually just stay home and watch YouTube or play video games.” I reply, not ashamed of how I spend my days.
“Well that sounds fun. Can you do me a favor and tell Emma to call me back when she comes back?” Mark asks me, and my heart can’t help but break. See Ruby, he only cares about Emma. That almost kiss we had a few hours ago meant nothing.
“Uhhh yeah sure. No problem Mark.” I say, the sadness present in my voice.
“Ok, thanks. Well, uh, bye.” Mark replies, but doesn’t hang up the phone. I assume he’s waiting for a reply, so I continue talking.
“Bye Mark. It- It was nice talking to you…” I trail off as I hang up the phone.
I sigh as I set the phone down on the table in front of the couch. “Welp, I guess that shitty ass plan backfired.” I mumble to myself as I get back up. I then proceed to turn the lights back off and press play after getting comfortable for the third time that night.
“Oh Tiana, why can’t I have a romance like you and Naveen…” I sigh to myself as I stuff some popcorn into my mouth and continue to watch the movie.
Right as the movie ended, the front door opened, and Emma’s loud voice filled the whole damn house.
“I’m back!” She calls, walking over to me with several large bags in her hands.
I put the TV on mute and Emma turns on the lights as she comes over and sets one of the many bags in front of me. I give her a confused look and she just gives me a huge, goofy smile.
“It’s for you. I found a few things that I knew you’d love, and I couldn’t just walk by them! So these are for you, Ruby. Oh, and don’t even worry about paying me back. Think of them as an ‘I’m sorry for being a total bitch’ clothes.” She smiles and I bend over and pull the first thing out of the bag. It was a shoe box, and I looked back up at Emma.
“Emma, you really didn’t have to do this…” I say, and she sits next to me.
“But Ruby, I wanted to. Now, open up the damn box!” She says, bouncing up and down next to me.
“Alright alright, calm down! I’m opening it!” I say as I pull the lid off.
“Emma! These are so cute!” I squeal as I hug her. They were a pair of black flats with floral skulls all over them.
“I knew you would! Now come on, you can gawk over them later, keep going!” She urges, and I set the box next to me, moving on. The next thing I pull out is a simple blue dress with short sleeves. It was just my style, and perfect for the beginning of autumn.
“Alright, now there’s one last thing in there.” Emma states, and when I reach down to the bottom of the bag, I pull out a round box. I give Emma a confused look, but she urges me on to open it.
“Ok, you have to promise me you won’t piss yourself with excitement. But I know you’ve been wanting this for a while now…” Emma stops, pretty much giving me the cue to open the box. I slowly slide the lid off and squeal when I see the content inside of it.
“Shut up! You did not!” I squeal once again as I slide the gray top hat onto my head.
“I did! I knew it would go well with your trench coat, and you’ve had your eye on it for a while, so here it is!” She explains, and I hug her, putting the hat back in the box.
“Oh Emma, thank you! Oh! And I almost forgot, I have some good news for you.” I state, and she smiles.
“Oh, do you?” She questions, and I hand her back her phone.
“Mark called. He wants to go on another date with you.” I state, and she snatches the phone from my hand.
“Shut up! Oh, I have to call him back! You’re the best, Rue!” Emma calls as she runs over to her room.
I sigh as I collect the things back into the bag and head back up to my room.
“Yep… If only you knew Emma. If only you knew…” I sigh to myself as I shut the door to my room, going to obsess over the man my best friend is dating.

I hope to one day move onto making videos, and make people feel emotion just like I do now. I've actually had someone tell me that I saved their life, and that's when I knew i was doing something right.
So thank you all, to the people who are reading now, the people who have read my writings in the past, and to the future people who will be reading this one day. Thank you for helping my dream start, and I hope to one day be able to actually tell you face to face.
I love you all. You're all wonderful people, and I wouldnt be here without you. So, once again, thank you.
