Ruby's Point of View
As I stand up, saying those two fatal words, I see that I'm not the only one who isn't happy with this marriage. The priest looks back from Mark, to Emma, to me, completely baffled, as if this has never happened before.
That doesn't surprise me.
My face gets about as red as my dress, and the priest decides to intervene on the situation. "Would someone like to explain to me what is going on?"
I make my way out of my pew and down the aisle to where Mark and Emma were standing, all three of us guilty of saying the two words no one thought they would hear.
"Look, I'm sorry Mark." Emma starts, deciding she wanted to be the first to speak. "I just.... I know how much you love Ruby. Even if you don't know it yourself, which I'm pretty sure you do, I know you love her with everything in your being. I knew you loved her since the minute you laid eyes on her. And I can't take that love away from you two. You'll always hold a special place in my heart, but.... I would rather you be happy than live this miserable life with me." She says, and my jaw drops. Wow... Emma has never said, or done, anything like that before...
Mark is the next to speak.
"Look Emma, I love you. I really do. It's just... I don't love you in this kind of way." He says, referring to the wedding. "I love you like.... A sister, or a best friend. But I don't love you enough to marry you. That's a different kind of love that I just can't give you. I'm so sorry honey... I am so sorry that I led you on and played along with this façade just to make you happy. I'm glad you understand. Thank you for letting me be with the one I truly love."
And with that, I didn't even have to speak. Mark turned to me, grabbed me by my waist, pulled me in close and pressed his lips against mine. It was the most... Passionate and loving thing I have ever experience. I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. This is what I wanted.... This is what I always wanted.
"Mark..." I say, breathing heavily after our kiss. "I have loved you since the minute I saw you on my computer screen. You are such a sweet and passionate guy and you give so much back to the world and you are honestly just the perfect guy for me. This tattoo..." I say, flashing off my wrist "Doesn't make me some creepy super fan girl. It makes me want to get to know you more. It makes me want to be a part of your life. It makes me want to know more than just your Markiplier persona. I want to know the real you Mark. I want to love the real you." I say, and with that, Mark pulls me in for another kiss, and I block out the rest of the world. I don't care whose judging me. I don't care who thinks we don't belong. All I care about is that I love Mark, and Mark loves me back with just as much passion as I love him with.
"Ruby, Emma is right. I have loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you. I want to be with you for the rest of my life."
"Mark, I want to be with you too..." I trail off. I look over at Emma who is crying. But not tears of pain or sorrow, but tears of joy.
"Then let's get out of here." He says. Mark then picks me up bridal style, and carries me back down the aisle to the doors. Some people clapped and some cheered. Some gave us dirty looks. But I didn't care. Emma, Mark and I were all happy, and that's all the matters.
And to think, this wasn't supposed to happen.
